Nice spot by a big pond

Quiet nice sites next to a large pond. They made a nice sandy beach. Good location right off the highway but somehow quiet.

Best access to town

These are dry camp spots, but they are a very short walk to town. Each space was private and quiet.

Awesome park

The camping is just a parking lot. It’s 12 bucks a night, which in Alaska in the summer in a city is cheap. The park is like an old time amusement park without rides. It is really cool though. There is a Salmon Bake restaurant that seems very popular. We stopped in for an adult refreshment and they are very dog friendly.

In the middle of it all on the Spit

We stayed 4 nights. It is a gravel lot next to the fishing hole on the Homer Spit. The camp host was very nice. It is the best spot to dry camp on the spit as it is easy to walk to everything. At $20 per night it is half the cost of the next cheapest place.

Great view

We stayed one night. We were lucky enough to get one of the two sites here that have a direct view. We were in site 14 which is great for an RV. Site 13 is great for a tent and is the other site with a great view. There was only one other group here and it was nice and quiet.

Awesome view

This is a great little RV campground that also has a few cabins that are awesome. Two of the cabins overlook the bluff and Cook Inlet. HaLee, the owner, was very friendly and attentive.

Good spot to relax

We stayed for a few nights from midweek. There are 9 large campsites that can accommodate RVs and small groups. There are fire rings, a vault toilet, and a launch ramp into the river. You can access the lake from the river, but is about a mile upstream. There is not really a trail to reach the lake. Young people seem to come out here to party for the evening and then leave, and leave their trash. We only had this one night. There are no dumpsters or trash cans here and it shows. The road through the campground should be checked before you drive through. Some parts would not be passable for an RV during our visit.

Moose roam through the campground. Beautiful views of the river, flowers, and tons of different birds.

In the middle of it all

We stayed for 5 days in June. The fishing access was great. The staff keep this places very nice. I don’t know if it is just because they are clearing out all of the Bettle killed spruce, but they give you a real bundle of firewood for $6. I thought I would carry 2 bundles back to camp, but had to go get a wagon. It lasted us 4 nights. The spaces are nice and very green. Did not feel like your normal gravel lot.
