Great recreation area

Great little sites within the trees and near the Devoe Lake, which has a small beach. Lots of trails, lakes and the Rifle River which was awesome to float down. Pit toilets were clean. They have wood for sale at the entrance of the park.

Beautiful area, lots to do!

I had a great spot overlooking the lake and next to the boat launch. Campsites are spacious, there are two vault toilets and a water pump. Voices and noise carry quite a bit and there are lots of mosquitos right now. This area is great for paddling. You can start at Crooked Lake and follow a little water trail to Pickerel to swim at a small beach. There are lots of great hiking/biking trails and Silver Lake is nearby with swimming, volleyball, concessions, bathrooms and an outdoor shower. Joslin Lake is also beautiful and a short drive away. If you want to grab a beer/food you can go to Hell….the town nearby. Hell Saloon is a cool spot and they have music and events. The Lakelands biking trail is also about a 15 min. drive away. It was a beautiful area and I'll be back for sure!

Big Bear Lake

This was a nice and quiet spot, but not much to do in the area. The lake has a beach, but it has been covered by water and the water is kinda gross looking, but we still got in. There are some nice trails nearby, but nowhere close to ride your bike. The Lakeview spots are nice (we didn't have one). There seem to be a lot of ticks. It was a nice place, but wouldn't visit again.

Beautiful sand dunes

This was my first camping trip solo and I lived the experience! The camping spots were nice and the amenities were great: bathroom, showers, fire pit, picnic table, trails, etc. It was a full campground and it can be a tad noisy depending on neighbors. I came mid-May and it was very cold at night. The beach is nearby and the sunsets are stunning. You can bike to Muskegon and enjoy museums, breweries, restaurants, farmers market, cheese shop, etc.

Peaceful campground experience

I loved this quiet little campground! I stayed at #6 and had a beautiful view of the lake. There is muddy lake access on that site and I paddled from there in my kayak. There is an official boat launch nearby. Bathrooms were clean and had plenty of toilet paper. Water pump takes a while, but it works! There is a hiking trailhead, Border to Border bike trail, and DTE mountain bike trail nearby. You can bike a few miles in to Chelsea, a very cute town with shops, restaurants, brewery and distillery. This was a nice quick getaway from Ann Arbor. The only downside is you can hear highway traffic from the campground, but otherwise it was a pleasant experience.
