Nice flat gravel camping spots. The road is not difficult at all. Small fee to camp but comes with a well maintained spot, fire pit, and grate for cooking.

There was a nice creek behind us and lots of cows roaming.

Lovely location with secluded spots. The stars and view were awesome and the wind blew just right all night.

Best camping spot of our trip. The road in is a long and windy road but the site is worth the drive. We got there at night but the windy road did not deter us. Camped on the beach with the woods to our backs. Saw some coyotes when setting up camp, but they didn't mind us. Most beautiful sunrise in the morning and saw mama and baby bear prints on the sand. The morning drive out was gorgeous.

We had to go in a ways before finding a suitable spot, but it was very secluded. We camped near the road but nobody came through the whole night we stayed. An owl swooped right through our camp site and scared the crap out of us. Easy route in and out.

Granted we got in late, but there really weren't any visible turnoffs or clear places to camp. We got to the far corner of the lake and found a clearing by a fence close to the lake. Lovely view and very secluded, but even on the drive out around the other half of the lake we saw no clear camping spots.

The road is steep, but nothing crazy. Our RAV4 has no issues at all. After the yogi bear campground the turn is on the right, kind of hidden. Head up until you see some campfire rings on the left. If you go a little off to the left on the first big turnoff, there are several good spots further from the road.

We got up on a Friday night and we're next to only one other couple. By Sunday all the spots were taken at some point. Dogs had plenty of space to roam. Not too crowded, and also not far from lake Estes.
