Nice

Pros- large places to stop, 4 bars AT&T and Verizon. Close to town. Cons - although there is a sign clearing stating 14 day stay limit, there are many who are using this as a permanent camp. There is a man who has a motorcycle trailer for hi bike and a cargo trailer he is living in, and has been here for more than 30 days, and at least 10 others around the perimeter who have set up for a long haul and have made this area their home base. One guy in a Minnie Winnie has a lot blocked off with rocks preventing areas from being used and has been here for at least 30 days. Also, on the weekends there is a lot of 4 wheeler an side by side traffic (which is livable as they are polite). People don’t seem to even think that the BLM office could shut this area down, especially as they leave trash and waste behind them.

Very nice

Stayed for 7 nights.  Beautiful weather.  Had a football game while we were there. Air Force won.  Sites were very spacious.  Full hookups.  Met some nice people and some very rude people who would not control their dog.

Took a ride up to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods was close by and just tooling around the area was awe inspiring

Loved this stop

Rustic

We did not get to stay here as all spots were full. Also, we are 43’ fifth wheel and the only places that were big enough for us were taken by a couple of tent campers.  As this was the week of the Balloon fest, we did not try any other areas but moved on west.  The sites were very unlevel, there were vault toilets.

It is a bit of a drive from the interstate but it is mostly paved roads.

Remote and quiet

A bit of the way off the paved road.  Do NOT follow GPS, follow the signs for the Maxwell wildlife refuge.

Camping is right next to the lake in an open field with picnic tables and trash.

We arrived and there was a schoolie and a van.  Later that evening a class A pulled in next to us but there was plenty of room.  There were some flies but not enough to bother with.

We have a 43’ fifth wheel and made it there with no problem so definitely big rig friendly

Relaxing and restful

The campground is rustic but not trashy.  Very well kept and maintained.  Up in the mountains, cool and picturesque.  Very much worth the cost.  It is a passport America and they do offer military discounts.  There is a food truck just off the property that serves the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich ever!  There is also a coffee bar. The bathrooms are the best we have ever seen and the water pressure allows you to take a very nice shower.  Will definitely go back

Good for a night

All gravel sites.  All pull thru sites.  Tight spaces.  Full hook ups . Right of I80.  Self checkin. Clean, neat. Would stay here again

Good for a night

Full hook ups. 3 levels. Right off of I80 so be prepared for the noise. Spots are long but very narrow.  Less than 3’ between our slides and the neighbor’s slides.  The neighbor’s sewer hook up is right at our front door.  The picnic table is located on the back side of the rig.  There is a pool and hot tub but the hot tub has been drained and pool could be closing due to a chlorine shortage in the area.  The gym is just a treadmill and a stationary bicycle.  It was a good place to overnight in

Trailer park

When we arrived we had to use the exit to enter, which meant backing our 43’ toy hauler in thru a Narrow gate on a busy back road, as the front way had been painted so they had it closed.  We weren’t told of this before hand.  It is just a large parking lot that has been turned into an RV park.  The rules state no rigs 10 years or older… which is bs as the majority of rigs there were that old and permanent residents.  The place was like a run down, trashy trailer park.  It did have full hook ups.  We were there for a week and during that time, they never had both gates working at the same time.  The back gate broke so they left it open.  The back gate led to a very sketchy neighborhood and, with the gate left open, anyone could come in.  The dumpster was padlocked closed, but there were small, overflowing trash cans for guests to use. Trash was supposed to be picked up on Friday, but was left overflowing for 3 more days.  This place was the only place with vacancies in town.

Nice place easy access

Easy to get to off I80, packed gravel sites about 90’ long. Easily accommodates Big Rigs. We have a 43’ Momentum toy hauler. Every site is 30/50 amp, full hook ups, water and sewer. Passport America accepted. Paid $21.50 including taxes a night. Friendly staff. We made a last minute call due to the heat and they were able to get us in. They also accept mail for you.

Very disappointing

Upon on arrival, unknown what spot we were to be in, attempted to call the numbers listed overs 40 times, went to automated busy every time. Finally got in touch with somebody thru a number provided by another camper (someone’s personal cell), who then told us to just pick a spot and she would move our reservation to there. This is 30 amp ONLY (we had been told when we made our reservations that it was 50amp). Water is split between 2 RV’s cutting water pressure down to below 20psi. The “dump station” is at the end of the second parking area and can not be used by pulling your RV up to it, you must have a tote to use. Yes, the park is behind us, which makes it very noisy. However, it is NOT where to can reasonably walk and there are NOT the bike paths as seen in thier photos. Very disappointed. We paid $20.00 a night to basically boondock on a very uneven parking lot . When we went to level our rig, the front jacks bottomed out and the rigs are so close to gather we could not fully open our awnings On a positive note, both ATT and Verizon have good service here.

Great little place

Big rig friendly. Full hook ups, laundry, bathrooms. Clean, friendly. We were in spot 3 so was very close to road. Owner puts on a quick draw show for the guests twice a week and was fun. Discount for cash

Camp on the rocks

Very nice area. Was a bit crowded. Very large places for group campers. Most camping spots are actually located on rock bed.  Road in was a bit rough but doable

CLOSED

WENT LOOKING FOR THIS ON AND PER RANGER THIS IS CLOSED AND NO DATE TO REOPEN TO PUBLIC. IT WAS CLOSED DUE TO BEING MISUSED, TRASHED, AND PEOPLE DUMPING THIER TANKS ON THE GROUND.

CLOSED

We went thru there and drove the entire road. The Gemini Bridges dispersed camping area is now closed with no intention to reopen, per Park Ranger.

Rustic

Gravel sites, mostly level, water and electric, there is a dump and dumpster. Nice hidden away place great for a couple of nights. Trains at all hours though so if you’re picky about noise, this isn’t f you
