The campground itself is pretty standard, but the oceanfront location is classic NE style summer camping. Also classic NE style, it’s packed in the summers. We caught the tail end of the season last year and the beach was super peaceful and much quieter than in high season.
Mostly less developed beach area, peaceful shoreline with essential amenities. Camping here REQUIRES a self contained vehicle, please respect the nature of this beach and pack out everything you pack in.
If you’re planning on hiking the notch or the ridge loop, this is about as good as it gets for a jumping off point. Beware the Leaf peeping crowds in the fall. Standard amenities, playground and paved paths, good for families or small groups.
The best way to stay in Stowe without paying Stowe hotel prices! Comfortable camp ground with good amenities. Friendly owners and a good spot to enjoy all that Stowe has to offer
If you want to hike the notch, it doesn’t get much closer than here. Basic amenities, nothing fancy. far enough from the highway so that you don’t hear it. Littleton is close enough that if you’ve forgotten something, you can easily find it there. Open four seasons!
Epsom is great spot to do some hiking - and this was a nice place to spend the night. There is a good quick fire tower route nearby if you want to get up high. Staff was friendly and helpful - would recommend!
Close to the village and the rim walk, a great site to stay at for your first trip to the canyon. A bit quieter than some other campgrounds though always packed.
Hike in (and around!) this gorgeous area. We chose to stay two nights and had a great time exploring the surrounding hiking trails - a personal favourite was Alamere Falls. Campsites are often booked solid (especially in high season), so réserve well ahead of time.
This campground is primarily RVs, although we still had a nice time at our tent site. The beach is only a few hundred feet away, and the campground has basic facilities. The beach is small and quiet, and has some great shells and rocks. All in all, a quiet campground with the fundamentals.
Havasupai land is beautiful beyond description. You can find a relatively solitary campsite if you look hard enough (and walk the full length of the campground!), and are willing to stream hop once or twice. Be aware that campfires are NOT PERMITTED. Do not bend these rules. If you’re heading there in the cooler months, come prepared with the right layers, don’t pull apart the native vegetation because you didn’t come prepared for the temperature (yes, we saw people doing this. And no, the rangers did not take kindly to it). This part of the world is worthy or respect and protection - if you come prepared, informed and respectful you will have the experience of a life time.
