Weekend waterfront getaway

This campground is a home away from home. We found this campground through this app, and was very happy with our stay. We had one of the primitive sites on the river front, and it was huge! Highly recommend site 152 if you have some camping games you like to play. This campground always has something to do. Whether it’s a movie night, live music, food trucks, or kayak rentals, there’s always something. There is a playground for kids, and clean bathrooms. There are also porta-potty’s around the campground that are clean and very convenient. The camp staff was absolutely amazing. We ran into some issues car issues on the last day, so we had to stay an extra night. The staff offered to help us out, they gave us a helping hand and offered to run into town for food for us. The manager was also awesome in this situation. The staff were very supportive and felt like a family in this situation. If you are looking for a family friendly campground, with staff that treats you like family- this is the place for you.

Neat overlook!

Passing though the area and this park was on my list to check out. Drove though and found a pretty amazing overlook view. There were wildflowers that smelled amazing. It was really cool to see the hawks flying below the overlook. Driving through the campsites they do look pretty nice and larger than normal. Some do look like the have a “mound” on them, which was interesting. I did get great cell service, LTE with us cellular. Overall, I would visit again!

Absolutely stunning

Third time here camping at this campground, almost any spot on the bluff over look is good, but if you want a good view, anything really in the 120s or 140s is nice. Stayed at 125 this time, it’s all gravel with little grass, we had a raccoon come within a foot of where we were sitting, he got scared when we turned on the light haha. I get LTE/5G service at the camp ground, I have us cellular. Overall, would definitely come here again.

Gorgeous

Super cool place to walk the boardwalk down the side of the lake. Or even walk in the water. There were people swimming in the bay, a little too cold for me. We saw turtles on our hike too! Highly recommend stopping if you have the chance! One note, little to none phone service.

Stunning!

Stayed a few nights, extremely buggy. One had 2 ticks which was very surprising. Little to no cell service, I have us cellular. According to one of the locals, cricket works the best so far. Bring your own food, most restaurants close early.

Relaxing atmosphere

First time up to this park, and camping for the weekend. Campsites are very well sized and spaced out pretty good. There are only vault toilets on the north side, but flushing one’s on the south side. There’s a concession stand towards the north end of the park. They sell snacks, park souvenirs, apparel, and ice cream! This is a very family friendly place. All of the campers were super friendly.

Beautiful

Note: I have not camped here yet, but I will be in the summer at the tent sites.

I have been going to this campground for years, walking around, going to the beaches, launching the family pontoon and fishing in Lake Petenwell. Everyone is always so friendly upon arrival. All of the tent sites are right on the edge, it is the best view of the lake. Other RV spots are partially shaded or full sun depending on the location.

I have US Cellular, it does work excellent in the area, but is very spotty lakeside. I am not sure what other providers are like.

There are two other camping areas that also are apart of this park. The second one is down the road a little and is west to the main grounds. It has been there for a while and is a spectacular place for sunsets! The park also just added a third campground right across the street as another option for additional camping. This one is atv/utv friendly where if you are on the trails you can drive right in that area. One thing to note is that they are not allowed in the main campground. There is a small atv entrance about 200ft passed the car entrance where you will need to check in.

There is a pretty nice beach to relax on, the lake is a little green and mucky sometimes- but hey its a lake! There are playgrounds for the kids to let the energy out and plenty of activities to do in the area.

Overall, I would highly recommend this campground!
