The Golden Gate Canyon state park is beautiful. Sites only have electric but ample water is available near the dump stations. Very clean overall - used the laundry facilities and they worked perfectly! Ample hiking trails - just leave yourself a little more time that you would expect due to the elevation gain/lose on the trails. Really close toGolden and all that it has to offer but you feel like you are in a very remote area. The sites are a little tight together - ample shade and lots of trees though. Highly recommend if you are looking for a little comfort after all of the BLM camping!
Just an update that we contacted Retro Rents and were advised that they no longer have RV sites for rent. Lots of rvs on site to rent but no open spaces.
Fabulous easy access camping in Terlingua. Hot shower, clean toilets, and open land for lots of hiking and exploring. Super close to Terlingua if you want dinner out and then Big Bend or Big Bend State exploring. Owner is super friendly and knows the area very well. This is desert and basically a large gravel based area so don’t expect lush foliage. Highly recommend when looking for a jumping off point to explore the area.
Awesome location between Salida and Buena Vista. Keep driving thru the gate and find your own piece of paradise. We have a 24’ RV and out spot, buried in the tall pines, was an easy in and out. Very quite with only one other camper you could see in the far distance thru the trees. Ample space between sites for privacy. With the easy in and out we popped into Salida for dinner one night. Highly recommend!
A long dusty road in led to an amazing experience. There are 4 actual sites and a vault toilet in the actual campground. Luckily we were the only ones there so chose the pull in site at the far end. Extremely scenic, amazing sunsets and stars. You are truly out there with no cell service on either Verizon or TMobile. We were there in October so low water allowed for a crossing and long hike on the paths across the water. Many miles of trails to explore or just enjoy the solitude and views. We have a 24’ RV with no problem (except a few nervous moments) with the drive in or out. I would check the weather though and not attempt if just rained or forecasted to rain. All dirt track so would be quite sketchy I imagine. There are also many other dispersed sites if you continue down the road past the campground.
Clean, friendly, and with all services for $35 a night. We stayed here on route between Texas and Colorado - close to the volcano national park so popped in there too. This is a crushed rock lot with pull through sites - nothing scenic here.
