Use to go here years ago. You would pull up, everyone would make a big circle with their campers and it was on. Now it’s all roped off, spaces are painted on the grass, tent campers have a separate area… blah blah blah. They’re completely being directed by the coastal state committees. I get it from a conservation standpoint just think they’ve gone overboard. Feel bad for the family.
Hypothetically this place looks great on the internet and when you first arrive it appears clean but sit back and really look around and watch what’s going on. A lot of coming and going at all hours, transient signs by the river, full timers hiding out only coming out at night, something going on here. Lots of talk when checking in about “smoke” and growing. Yeah… not again.
Very clean, full hook ups, can accommodate big rigs. Weekly, monthly, overnight. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is that there is nothing around to do. General store across the street with gas and diesel, some food and drink.
Eagle Lake is known for its “Eagle Lake Trout” and they get big! The lake itself can get choppy in the afternoon but get out and fish in the morning. The campground facilities here are complete and clean. They have a general store that has everything you could ask for, a little of everything and the staff is friendly and very helpful! The location is great if you like to explore things like lava beds, ice caves and wildlife!
The campground hosts are absolutely the best! They are so kind, keep the place super clean, are very very friendly and welcoming! We were staying elsewhere and decided to move campgrounds… FANTASTIC decision! The area we stayed in had 4 spots tucked away in a delightful cove that was beautiful, clean, green and spacious! Can’t say enough about it, we can’t wait to go back. They have everything from tent spots to full hook ups. The harbor is right across the street and close to restaurants, stores and there are nice sidewalks for enjoying a beautiful stroll!
So beautiful! The lake is nestled in the mountains. The scenery, fishing and water sports are superb! There are ample campgrounds with spots from tent camping to RV camping. They also have group camping right on the water! If you love mountain lakes, don’t miss this one… and book early!
