Noisy but still a good choice.

As tent campers, Sprague Creek is a good choice at Glacier National Park because there are no RVs or towed campers allowed. Even though this is a wooded campground, traffic noise was an issue. The toilets have flushies and sinks and were well stocked. There is potable water available. The sites have picnic tables as well. This campground sits on Lake McDonald (fishing anyone?) and is off the Going to the Sun Road. Very scenic area of Glacier.

Shhhh...Super Secret

This has to be one of my all time favorite campgrounds. Very primitive camping at the end of a very bumpy dirt road about 40 miles in. There are only 13 sites and given the arduous drive, RVs are seldom seen here. This part of the lake also does not allow motorized boats so kayaking and canoeing is very pleasant. We fished here and within 30 seconds of dropping my line I caught my first lake trout! Can't beat that! Pit toilet and there is a hand pump for water but that's about it.

Belle Fourche at Devil's Tower

We stopped here on our way to North Dakota. Nice little campground with picnic tables, fire pits, and public toilets which were clean. Lots of shady spots. No reservations so it's first come, first served. No hook-ups for RVs. Very close to Devil's Tower National Monument so the view is amazing! Avoid the first week in August as that's when thousands of motorcyclists descend upon Sturgis.

Lake Walcott with the family

My daughter and son-in-law were visiting from out of state and wanted to go camping and bring the boats. We chose Lake Walcott mostly because of the campsites that were right on the lake. There is a dock although we didn't use it as we had the canoes and kayaks with us which we were able to just tie up at the campsite. The toilets were within walking distance and was clean and stocked. I noticed there were rental cabins as well but we were in tents. The only downside was a very rowdy group of teenagers that decided to camp right next door to us. Great lake for the boats. We had a blast!

Camping and sailing at Lake Cascade

We chose Lake Cascade because we had heard that the lake winds were great for sailing and that is true. We stayed at Blue Heron campground. This campground has a dock which made it easy to launch the sailboat. Our campsite was right on the shore next to the lake. There isn't a lot of shade at this campground. Weekends can get crowded. The toilets were clean and stocked. If you want a good location for sailing or windsurfing, this is a good choice.

Great spot for river boaters

We spent a weekend here and took our boats so we could play in Bear Valley Creek. This campground was full on the weekend we went. The pit toilet was clean and stocked with toilet paper although it is a pit toilet. Plenty of firewood for the fire. The creek had downed trees and was a challenge to navigate. Be prepared to pack out everything as there is no trash service.

Serenity found!

This is one of the most gorgeous locations for camping. The campground is right on the lake which is perfect for those of us who like to bring our canoes and kayaks. It is well cared for and clean. The toilet is a also stocked and clean. The lake itself is pristine and beautiful. I recommend highly!
