Our site was great, easily fit a 17 foot trailer and a tent. Trails down to the water were appreciated by our kids. Neighbors are pretty close all around but that didn't matter until our last night. Several new campers rolled in at 10pm and proceeded to throw an absolute rager of a party until 4am - on Labor Day weekend. So overall a great campground but I wish there had been enforcement of quiet time or some kind of consequence for such horrible camping manners.
What a great site! We just drove along 611 after turning off 67 and found a ton of options past the East Rim lookout. Really huge site with a big fire ring and tons of firewood around.
We were trying to find a place to sleep for the night and this worked, but the road was in really rough shape. We had to take it very slowly so it took about an hour to find an established site. We didn't make it all the way to the arch because that "road" was mostly giant rocks and we were renting our campervan. We drove past that turn and found a spot at 10:30pm. We woke up to the most amazing views! What a beautiful area, I wish we'd had more time to explore!
This place is incredible! Probably really crowded during peak season, but we had no trouble finding a spot at 10:30pm. We woke up to gorgeous views! The National Park was five minutes away.
We stayed here two nights with our family of 7. The sites are not super huge but felt private enough. Everyone was pretty quiet even though one night there was an all night bonfire at site near the bathroom. Nice fire rings and picnic table at each site. Very clean pit toilets.
We had a great time on Thomas Mountain! The road was pretty rough though, lots of tight turns and it was lucky there wasn't more traffic coming up or down. We got there on a Friday afternoon and it rained the whole rest of the day, so we were stuck in our camper for most of the first day. The night was very cold and we regretted not having better cold-weather sleeping gear. The next day was gorgeous and our kids had a great time climbing the boulders and exploring around our area. There were other campers, looked like mostly hunters, in the sites on either side of us, but the sites are just so huge there wasn't any noise from them or privacy issues. No water or facilities at the sites farther down the track, although it looked like there was a pit toilet at the first location. Really loved it here and would recommend it.
We had a great time with Jason and his family. We stayed for four nights and they were so generous. The animals were a huge perk for our kids and the kittens and climbing trees and boulders kept our three kids occupied for hours. They let our kids help feed the sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, and even caught a tarantula for them! Plus fresh farm eggs!
They let us use a shower and laundry, which was a real blessing after a week of boondocking. They have a great outdoor sink for washing dishes and a nice porch set up with microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, and fridge if you need to store a few things. Yosemite was a bit of a drive, but since we were spending two entire days at the park we didn't mind. The drive was beautiful!
Can't recommend them enough.
The bathrooms were SO CLEAN! Really impressed.
The site itself was fine, nothing too fancy. The Joshua Trees around the site were really great and the kids had a good time climbing the nearby hills and hiking the trails. We had a camper van and our site (24) was relatively level. Nice picnic table and fire ring, although ours was a little older and seemed like it had low walls.
Pretty close to the entrance to the national park and we spent two days driving through it climbing on boulders and hiking to the dam. Great time.
