Fun family getaway

Nice new bathrooms and showers among the campgrounds. Perfect place to bring our 2 and 3 year olds. Trails for perfect for kids to hike. We loved the playground! Tons of deer!!

Research beforehand

Wish I had more time and did my research. If you opt for the hike in Primitive camping, bring a wagon or pack light. That 1.5 miles isn’t fun hauling gear. I was exhausted from the hike to my car to my camp spot carrying cooler and backpack. I was assuming the hike in were going to be extremely Secluded and quiet but across the river is a road with houses. So I personally think it’s better not to do the hike in camp. But Gorman falls was beautiful. Please study the maps and pack plenty of water because you can get turned it being marked poorly. On the way out I recommend checking out the General store, the pizza was the best, I believe I order the Hemingway. Very friendly there.

On top of the mountain

Passing through on our way Petit Jean. Amazing views. Camp grounds were full of RVs but very peaceful and clean.

Fall foliage superb

Petit Jean state park blew my mind! Had lunch at the Mather lodge with the amazing view. Due to Covid tables were space apart which entails a waiting list but wasn’t a long wait. Food was delicious after hiking. Campgrounds were super nice and clean with I believe over 100 camping spots. Gift shop was decent with plenty to choose from. Definitely returning in 2021. Bear cave and the Tortoises being my favorite on the trails.
