Savanna Portage Long Weekend

Lovely sites with plenty of trees so most sites are quite private. Mosquitoes are brutal here, especially on the hiking club trail and to a somewhat lesser degree in the campground. We were thankful to have a screen tent for this visit. No Verizon cell service at the campground. Surprisingly good cell service at the Loon Lake area of the park, which also has a beautiful short hike!

Lovely campground

Nice campground all around. New shower/bathroom building and close proximity to hiking trails. Some of the sites are on the small side. Would recommend our site 11E, don’t be deterred by the proximity to trash and dump station. It’s a large site with a good view of the bluffs and river in the distance.

Great campground close to the Twin Cities

This is a great campground within an hour's drive of the Twin Cities.  Nice hiking and sites well spaced out.  Beautiful in the fall!  Only negative to our site was a fairly steep incline to back our trailer up.  Made for more difficult but not impossible leveling, perfect site otherwise.

Beautiful lakeside group site

We stay at this group site for a week every summer with our extended family and look forward to returning as soon as we pull-out.  The group sites with water access and full hook-ups can't be beat.  Plenty of space for our 4 RV's of various sizes plus tents/easy ups.  Well appointed lodge with a small market and snack bar.  Be aware they do not accept credit cards so plan ahead.

Excellent, can't wait to return!

Great campground with plenty of privacy and space between sites.  Excellent hiking trails along the river.  Restroom/shower building and vault toilets well maintained.

Nice little campground but would avoid this site

Nice campground near great hiking.  If you can be picky when booking I would avoid 2E, 4E and 6E as these sites are wide open with no privacy from the foot traffic to and from the restrooms/shower.

Nice but sites are cramped

Nice campground with everything you need; however, it is small and the electric sites are quite cramped.  Good experience but we prefer the hiking and campground on the Wisconsin side of the river.

Shipwreck Creek Campground

We stayed at the newly opened Shipwreck Creek campground for three nights in a hardside pop up. This campground is A+. All sites are unique and well spread out. Some sites in the inner loop have views of Lake Superior. Only negative is no dump station, we used the one at Gooseberry on our way in and out. Great home base for beautiful hikes!

Memorial Day Weekend

We stayed at the North Campground at an electric site 26E for two nights in a hard side pop up. Nice campground with good separation between most sites. A couple sites have views of the river. If you are tenting the walk in sites look stellar! Good hiking trails at this park too.
