Unglamorous, functional, conveniently located

We stayed here for 2 nights to bike to Busch Gardens.

At first glance we had second thoughts, but the location held us there. The campground has apparently changed hands and is under new management. According to some people who still "live" there, the new owners got rid of alot of the "riff raff". Disclaimer: They had trouble in the past. We had no trouble at all. Just the opposite. The people staying there were friendly enough. The woman who set is up in a site admitted to making a mistake but quickly corrected it (she had to switch our site - but it didn't impact us at all). She was willing to work with us on checkout time, and made it easy for us with our large dog.

I would absolutely NOT recommend using the bath house - clogged shower drain, garbage left on sink, dirty T- shirt on the floor - so i am grateful for our motorhome.

Our bikes were not stolen, so that's a good thing. The ride to Busch Gardens is nice, and that is a big plus for this campground. It is the only one i could find this close. It is also a cheap Uber ride, which helps to save on the $25 parking fee at BG.

It is also conveniently located to stores, etc.

Needed more time...

We picked this park for its relative proximity to Yellowstone. For that, it was quite convenient. We arrived at night in the rain. There were no issues with late arrival. We had electric and water hookup. The campground looks geared towards those who enjoy use of the lake for boating and fishing. We did not use the bathrooms, so i can't comment. We left in the morning, so we didnt have time to enjoy what it had to offer.

Remote primitive adventure

We drove out here at night and couldnt see a thing. It is extremely dark at night, which i love!! It gave us the rare opportunity to observe the NEOWISE comet with just our binoculars. Amazing! On the drive out we saw several deer. WARNING: if you go in an RV be prepared for a bumpy ride. The road out is terrible! We awoke to fog that quickly cleared and the squeaks of prairie dogs. There is a little trail that takes you up the hillside for a spectacular view. Saw a lot of bison droppings but didn't actially see one until the drive out. Then we saw a whole herd! This is definitely worth the trip. Mind you, no electric, no water, no sewer so go prepared. A tenter's paradise and an RVer's opprtunity to get back in touch with nature. The subsequent drive through the Badlands was breathtaking!

Middle of the city gem!

This MS state park is smack dab in the middle of Jackson, MS. It is snuggled in the woods along a river. The bathrooms and sites were clean. Every site has a beautiful view. We stayed next to the river and encountered wildlife right away - gators, rabbits, birds. The trails are lovely, easy walks through cypress swamps and dry forest. One way the trail leads to a dam with old structures and great fishing opportunities, the other fork leads you to the museum of natural science! My children loved that!!! Upon checkout we had a nice converaation with the ranger. We cant wait to go back!
