It was okay

Camped with a few friends in the rustic camping area. Had great bathrooms and the campground itself has a great location close by the state park and the city of ludington so beach and stores. The sites were a little small and not very private at all. This is not a campground you go to if you are looking for more wilderness type environment. It's great for families and dogs with nice biking/hiking trails. Something to be aware of before you go if your meeting a group out there is they only allow Three items per site. If you have two tents you can only have one car. If you have three tents no car…(canopy tents do not count in this. They have overflow parking throughout though. Staff is friendly and helpful.

right before we arrived someone came through during the night and stole some high end bikes this was just and unfortunate experience and they suggest you try to lock things up. Which makes sense in general. Overall it was a good experience not my type of camping but I've had worse.

Lovely

This was our second time camping at the porkies rustic camp sites. This time we stayed in one of the walk in sites, which are great if you are planning on staying more than one night. Was a bit of a trek to set up for the one night we stayed. It was however more away from people and I would chose it again. The bugs were dine this time but the first time we were there a couple of years ago the biting flies had just hatched and it may have been one of the most miserable experiences ever. I like how close this campground is located to multiple waterfalls, and not a very difficult walk as long as the beige isn't flooded! This is a great place to stay while you explore the rest of the park.

Lovely!

We arrived on a wendsday just before opening season and had the place basically to ourselves. By Saturday the grounds were full. We stayed at the lower campgrounds closest to the lake. They are first come first serve with no running water and valted toilet. We loved it the nice easy walk to a lighthouse, shipwrecks and amazing sunsets. I'm guessing in peak Season you would want t get there early to mid morning for a site and I could image it being quit difficult on a weekend. we will try to get a spot in August when we go back because we liked it so much. All the sites on the outside are if you can get into the right side back corner you would have it made!
