This place is gorgeous. You have to park and use carts to bring stuff to your site. It's not very far but it is something to consider. Moose are known to be in the area although we didn't see any while here. Outhouses are by the parking although that is not far, as mentioned above. Water has to be filtered and treated or carried in.
Big sites! Good tenting sites. Great hiking trials with views. We love that it is close to Saratoga Springs as well.
We go annually with family and friends. The sites are a great size for accomadating two tents and have many people gather at meals. The beat grooms and showers are well kept. The beach, trail to historic house, boating, fishing, and Cooperstown nearby keep everyone in the group entertained. We have also had some great star viewing here!
We planned a trip to GNP only a few months before going and accomadations were tough to find. We stayed at St Mary's for two nights on two different sites. The sites are small but we spent so little time there because we were out exploring the park. They had dry flat areas for the tent, clean bathrooms, and potable water. The location within the park was great as it was our jump off point to exploring.
