2nd stay

This is my second time staying here while on a road trip. The thing that has changed since the last time is the addition of the rumble strips on the road. It makes it a little noisy. I’d still stay here again. Cheap (tent=$6.00) easy to pay for via Apple Pay, the pit toilets are clean and the other campers are really quiet. It seems to be popular with seasonal workers in the area that stay in their RVs.

Small but good stop

Right off the road and easy to get to. I only saw 2 spots and the other was occupied. Both had fire rings but we were in a fire restriction. I got the site closest to the road and it was not so bad, I was camping in my car anyway. The spot seemed pretty level. The trees were gorgeous. Not bad for a free spot.

Great 2 spot dispersed camp

2 spots available on the road. This spot requires 4wd. High clearance not needed with careful driving. Beautiful small road with a few bolted rock climbs. Spots are marked with a sign with a tent symbol and a camp fire ring. I can’t wait to come back. Amazing!

Beautiful dispersed

Great quiet dispersed camp ground. There were plenty of spots to choose from. The surrounding area is gorgeous! The camp spot is nestled in the trees and has plenty of shade for the summer months. Currently in April the picnic area was closed.

Pull off spot

Great little pull off camp spot. I wouldn’t spend more than one night here. The cows are super cute to wake up to. I didn’t smell them at all. The road is a little washboard and there aren’t a lot of good turn around spots. Overall very happy with the spot. It was quiet and perfect for a road trip camp spot.

Still one of my favorites

Right now the campground looks a little worse for wear. They did extreme tree clearing do to moth damage. The cons: ATV noise, the tree clearing. Paying for the site can be confusing. I paid at tettegouche, QR code didn’t work and yodel didn’t work either. Pros: close to climbing, some really great state parks, SHT trail, fishing. Quieter than tettegouche.

The views!

The views are gorgeous! It was a great last minute choice after not being able to explore going to the sun road. Reservations were fully booked but so glad I took a chance with two medicine. Was able to take a dip in the lake. One of the trails were off limits due to bear activity. The site was clean, the bathrooms were also clean, a bit outdated but still functional. I strolled in around 9:30 am and there were plenty of spots to choose from. They are first come first served. The rangers were really friendly, the camp host was knowledgeable.

Perfect!

This was a last minute stop and I’m so glad I stopped here! The sites are well maintained. The bathrooms are so clean and seem new. The hikes in the area are great. The baby buffaloes are so darn cute!

Rainforest heaven!

There are about 5 sites hidden on the road. Please be careful the road is a mix of private land, national forest, national park. The sites can be easily found by their stone fire rings. The site that is directly on the river was very popular. I ended up staying 2 nights at one of the last sites before it turns to private land. It was tucked away, walk in site, had a nice fire ring, nice tent pad area. It has a large rope so you can access the river. The scenery is breath taking. Down the road there are at least 2 waterfalls on the right. In the town of quinault there is a laundry mat/shower facility!

Great location

The location is amazing!!!! Sadly though the campsites are not well cared for. I stayed at two different sites, one toward the end of the road and one closer to hwy 20. The end of the road spot did require 4wheel drive and higher clearance (suv height), the one closer to hwy 20 could have easily been driven to in a std. car. The river was gorgeous! The further down the road the likelihood you won’t have access to the river (creek). Both sites were straight up trashed! Trash everywhere!!! The site closer to hwy 20 had both trash and food debris (pineapple and coconut shell) everywhere. The tent pad was completely unusable because of trash. This site has a gorgeous water access but again found plastic bags floating on the creek edge. The site further down was littered with toilet paper and a huge polystyrene cooler full of “waste” so gross. I just used these spots as jumping off point for my hikes in the cascades and I slept in my car so it was a fine stay both times.

Nice stop on the road

It’s so nice of them to let travelers like myself stay for the night. Yeah it’s a parking lot in the county fair grounds but it’s well maintained. Like others said before the portable bathroom was the cleanest I’ve ever seen. It’s nice to be near supplies for outdoor adventures too. Highly recommend for a night.

Great experience

The reservation system seems out of date. Generously sized comfortable spots. Private clean showers for only a few bucks. Clean restrooms. Trails to the beach. Overall fellow campers were really great and respectful of quiet hours.

Amazing campground

I had a great site! The views were equally great! The sites were close together but I didn’t mind since the views made it worth it. The fellow campers were quiet and respectful. The proximity to trails made it easy to get some quick hikes in and a good place to rest after some of the longer ones in the area. The bathrooms/vault toilet were very clean. They cleaned them daily. I spent several nights here and would for sure stay here again.

Urban style campground

Overall pretty great! Gorgeous views of the sound!! Price was perfect. The location was ideal for me as a stop off before the Olympics. I was able to load up on supplies and ready my gear. My tent campsite was generously sized, had a picnic table and a fire ring. I gave it 4 stars for two reasons. The campground was loud BUT it was fully of happy campers so it’s hard to be mad about that. Second was the toilet for the campground was out of order so they brought in a biffy. The biffy was gross and not well maintained.

Gateway to the eastern sierras

The location was amazing!!! I could walk to a few shops if I wanted. It was so close to some really amazing hikes! It was the best of both worlds being outdoors and having modern luxuries close by. The site itself was pretty great. Level, kind of dusty, plenty of space between campsites, bear box that was much needed. I did have a bear on my site, but thankfully he moved on to the site across the way that had left out food (shame on them!)
The campground itself did not have showers which was a huge bummed. Camp host didn’t have a list of showers close by but a fellow camper did. Overall, I felt pretty meh about the campground.

Great views but crowded.

I had a great time at Zion. The camping was a little crowded for my taste. The campsite was noisy into the late hours (1 am.) The facilities were dirty, not well maintained. They could use a facelift for sure. The site I had was level, graded and had a great view!!!

Quiet for a busy area

I was having trouble finding a camp spot in the breck/Dillon area and took a chance at a first come site. So glad I did. It’s pretty quiet even on a Saturday. The camp hosts are amazing! They checked in on me which was nice. The bathrooms also amazing! The cleanest, nicest pit toilet I’ve ever used. The views were pretty incredible from my site. Valleys and trees. The proximity to Dillon is great. I was able to get some camp grocery shopping done with ease.

Fish persons paradise!

This campground is ideally suited to boaters and RV campers. There are a few walk in sites but most don’t have a pad for tents. The grounds are well maintained and clean. There are pay showers and flush toilets. The views are pretty darn good.

Quiet, off the beaten track

This was a quick one night stop for me along the road. It’s very nice and quiet. There is a camp host but I didn’t meet them. Super amazing quick way to pay via a QR code and Apple Pay!! Although, you could do it the old fashioned way as well with a sealed envelope. I stayed at a tent site. They are in the open grass and I presume each “site” is designated by a picnic table. I was the only tent camper. There were about 3 RVs there. There isn’t a lot to do in the area but it’s great for a nice quiet night sleep if you’re on a road trip like I am.
