Beach camping!

Nice campground and very clean bathrooms. So close to the beach. The sites were spaced nicely.

Walking distance to everything

We stayed here because we were at a convention at the adjacent hotel. It was great to be able to walk to and from the hotel conference. There was also a few restaurants nearby. The campground itself was quiet and and river nearby was clean and peaceful. The site was a moderate size and when we were there in September there were hardly any other campers.

Hiking to waterfalls!

Great location to hiking and waterfalls. Upon check in we noticed fresh gravel laid down and is done so after each camper. Clean park and nice benches near the lake.

Campground Rules

Lots of hiking nearby was the biggest perk I saw here. Definitely enjoyed the hike to Panther Creek. We were hoping to hike into the gorge but we were staying the weekend of a water release day so they close it. At the campsite there isn’t a campground store, the wood was purchased from the ranger window. The campground host were not the friendliest or most helpful, the kids park was in direct sunlight and we were left a note about rules of the campground. I did enjoy the shade on the site itself but we were limited for parking as we had two trucks at the site and two tents.

Quiet

Dogs aren’t allowed on beach area but we found our own great spot within the park that allowed them to swim and cool off with us!

Needs a little work

We asked for a fire ring several times and were never presented with one. The trash is suppose to be left at the end of the site for pick up but we were never told that. Short drive to Chattanooga and enjoyed all the touristy things there.

Beautiful!

This campground is close to home. The rangers and patrons have maintained this park well. The lake views are incredible! The primitive sites are a short hike in and so serene. The bathrooms are clean and have washer/dryer accessibility.

Close together

Camping here isn’t private. The sites are very close together. The bathhouses were clean and the playground was nice. The lights during Christmas time and the tubing was worth our stay for our family. We also enjoyed the short hike to the top!

Marvelous mountain views

This is a tough hike but well worth it! Make sure you factor in every mile may take up to 1 hr so bring plenty of water. It’s one of our favorite places to backpack and we have been and will continue to visit year round. As always pack out what you pack in!

So much to do!

Beautiful family friendly beach camping. The store hours are a bit unusual but between the beach, the various parks with paddle board and kayaking options you never have to leave!

Mountain camping

Nice campground with great hiking trails nearby. There is a playground and a swimming area within driving distance. They sponsor great events such as the Easter egg hunt while we were there. Park rangers were very helpful with trail information.

Camping on the beach

I have been camping here since I was a kid and always found this place so peaceful and beautiful. Make sure you bring bug spray and plenty of money for the wonderful camp store! Unfortunately the front row sites which we use to enjoy are slowly being washed away but the park rangers and other committees are doing their best to help save Hunting Island.
