Stayed in one of the back sites at this campground. Offered us a bit more seclusion. Small parking spaces at site but worth walking thru the brush to the actual clearings.
Turned off Guanella Pass and did dispersed camping. Found a great spot near the stream. Saw a moose run along the stream. Loved camping up there! So peaceful and beautiful!
Camped here over the weekend and really liked it. Campground was only half full, which was nice. We had an RV site so plenty of room to set up tents and bags. Very close to the lake and was beautiful. Liked that they take reservations.
Loved the ability to reserve a spot in the NP. The campsites were shaded, level and large. We had plenty of space and there was shade for after a full day of hiking. The bathrooms were clean.
Had to book this site super early in the year but was very glad to secure a place in the park - loved that we could book a reservation here. The sites were level and included all the basics for camping. There were nice bathrooms but no showers. The sites are very close and noise carries throughout the campground. BUT it was amazing staying in the park, parking the car once and taking shuttles everywhere. Really enjoyed our stay!
We camped at Difficult CG and really enjoyed our stay. Even though the sites were close to each other, there was a lot of shrubs and trees between sites so it cut the noise way down and gave you privacy. Bear boxes were at each site and we saw moose both days on the drive into the site!
This camp ground was amazing! Close to the lake, medium sized sites, and showers available. The downside was that the vault toilets were incredibly smelly, the park was very full with people and RVs and there weren't a lot of trees to provide privacy from one dite to the next.
Absolutely loved staying at this State Park! The site was big and a real short walk from the car. It was nice that the road didn't go next to the campsite like usual so it cut down on noise. The views of the lake were amazing and is so close to beautiful Ouray!
We had a great time camping at Heron Lake. The sites were large enough for multiple tents, had vault toilets nearby, and was easy to drive to trailheads and the lake. Only con was how low the lake was so we weren't able to just walk to the water
We camped here for a couple nights and it was an amazing campground. Loved the clean sites, vault toilets, accepts reservations, spread out sites, proximity to Crested Butte and all the wildlife that visited the campground.
