Hidden gem on a lake

Nice large sites. Ours had lake access and we only booked it a couple days in advance. Launched our kayaks from our site. Decent bicycling in the area. One day we visited mammoth cave national park, about 30 minutes away.

OK in a pinch

If you need a place to stay for a night, it will suffice. Utilities all worked. However…

Parking was in an open area. No trees. VERY close to I-10 so it was noisy all night. Place looked generally run down. Bathroom was out of order (see photo). Dumpster overflowing. We had Passport America and it should have been $20. They charged $25. I suggest staying elsewhere if you can.

Hidden Gem

This place totally surprised us with how nice it was! They accept Passport America, so a full hookup sight was about $9/night. $18 without Passport America. Sites are large and private. Many are pull through. We had our own kayaks and bikes, so we went kayaking in the creek and mountain biking on marked trails all in one day! Bath houses were older, but were clean and everything worked. This felt like a state park where you would pay $30/night.

There are swampy areas so it is somewhat buggy at dawn and dusk. I highly recommend the place and would stay here again.
