My wife and I came here on a Friday afternoon hoping to get a spot. We did! We got lucky because only a few hours later, it was full. Keep in mind this is a “first come, first serve” campground. Our site was decent sized. There’s a burn ban pretty much everywhere, so no fire but we made due. It’s a good location to all the good spots in the park. The only downside was that the women’s bathroom flooded, and the other one got shut down so the one closest to our site was the only operable one, and it was packed. But, they were clean. We would absolutely go back!
My wife and I camped here for one night. Our neighbors were decent, but there was ZERO privacy. Our site was completely connected to Site 7. They looked they were meant to be just one group site. We had a trail that looked inviting from our site to the lake, but upon walking it, we found ourselves essentially in a marsh. No trail after about 5 yards, and once we did make it to the water, it was infested with goose feces. I wouldn’t recommend planning to swim here.
The bathrooms were well maintained and had flushing toilets and running water/soap.
There was wood for sale. $6/bundle or 3/$20. Hosts were good and site was clean.
The highway is right across the lake, and VERY noticeable. Also, anyone on the dock can be heard from the sites with relative ease.
I think it’s just a one and done for me, but would work if it’s all you could find in the area and the stay was going to be short.
My wife and I stayed here at site 11 for one night. It was clean and relatively quiet. The site was small, but did come with a fire ring and a picnic table. It also has a few feet of pavement to park your vehicle, so you can pack heavier items and not have to worry about taking them far. The bathrooms are vault toilets, and they do not smell pleasant, but that was to be expected. Several small trails right across from the site that will take you to the lower falls, and it was a beautiful view. Falling asleep to the sound of rushing water from the river was a perfect touch.
My only “issue” is that the sites are not very private, as you can see right through the trees on either side directly into your neighbors site. Otherwise, it was a nice place to stay for the night and check out the falls. The drive up and the surrounding areas made this even more worth it.
It was a great place to escape from everything for a night. We stayed at site 35 in a tent, and it was perfect. A little dip down and isolated enough perfectly for my wife and I. A nice fire ring, picnic table, and plenty of space for our Rav4. It was really busy but our area was almost completely empty so we had a blast. Awesome staff and clean bathrooms.
