It’s ok

It’s true it doesn’t feel like a parking lot, which is great. But the sites are still very small. It’s the smallest site we’ve ever camped in. I also feel it’s pricey for what it is. But lodging is at a premium anywhere around here in summer so it is what it is. The ocean side is pretty but do not expect a sandy beach.

Largest campground this side of the Mississippi!

We didn’t realize how big this campground was until we got there. Over 560 sites! Camping world! The sites are not terribly private but it still beats most RV parks. Like the previous poster said, quiet hours were not enforced and there was a loud group across from us active until well past 10. It’s an impressive place though with lots of volunteers picking up trash and being helpful. One did enforce some daytime quiet with loud music coming from the rowdy group. We ended up not staying long but I’m glad we saw this place. If you want to drive out the spit, to the very “end” of Oregon, there’s a bunch of road construction. You turn into a break in the fence and will very soon be driving on the beach! Everyone is doing it and mostly fishing. It was an adventurous surprise for sure!

One more thing, there was some rather loud aircraft flying occasionally overhead, one came over in the middle of the night.

It’s great for an RV park

Lovely spot. Best TV park we’ve ever stayed at. Sites feel more like “camping” and less like “parking lot” like many RV places. More open space. Nice dog park too. Tent sites are very spaced out and lovely.

If you want to cool off, this is the place

Lovely cool respite in summer. Thick, dark, beautiful forest. Almost always windy but the vegetation blocks a lot of it at the sites. Reservation only now, bummer.

Also there’s no sanitary dump or sewer hookups, FYI.

Looks like private property

No indication of camping here. The last turn off is blocked by a barbed wire gate and there’s a house at the end of the road.

Beautiful and lots of ATVs

This place is gorgeous, unique, and well worth the trip. Campsites are well spaced and spacious and clean, with hookups. It snowed on us the first night so be prepared if you’re in a shoulder season. It’s high elevation and there’s plenty of COLD to experience here! The snow day also meant no ATVs that day so it was beautifully quiet. We aren’t big fans of being around ATVs but they are well regulated and tend to stay in their lanes. They visitors really came out of the woodwork when the sun came out.

Visitor center is small but improving. It has a soda and ice machine. There is wifi at the center and we could text with it using Verizon. Otherwise there’s no cell service.

The sledding is great, bring your own or they rent them also.
