Great campground

Was here last year also. Great place for older people that have a national parks card. $13.00 a night is unbeatable. Park is always clean and well maintained. And free laundry too. Yes, there are skeeters, but this is summer in Minnesota. You learn to deal. Quiet and not packed at all. Site is large and flat and trees galore.

Not as expected

Picked a site online from the website. Looked like a nice long back in by the lake. Turns out it had a big hump in the middle of it and the power was on the wrong side a to far away to reach. Went up the hill and found a place to park in site three while the guy I called checked to see if it was reserved . Luckily it wasn’t so I was able to set up and get the air going Other thing to mention is I’m in a 28 foot travel trailer. The road in if you can call it that was pretty worn out. First part was bumpy and patched tar. The rest was gravel so had to go slow It’s a bare bones park that doesn’t see much attention. But if you wanna be alone, this will work. Only three of us here. Bugs are a bit of a problem here as everywhere this time of year. Little no see ‘ems are the worst. Just a few Skeeters. I’m told there’s a dump station, but haven’t looked at it yet. Was looking for a quiet place to wait out the heat for a few days that had power. So it works for that. And I’m beholding to Jeremy at the office in town for helping with the reservation switch. I would suggest you come here first before picking a site. The ones on the loop on the hill are more level.

Another winner

Found another great Federal spot! Smaller campground with only 22 spots. Very well maintained and have a small shower house and vault toilets. Sites are well separated and mine was huge. Could have put another travel trailer and vehicle in it. Hosts were awesome and he even came over to help me back in.. 👍 can highly recommend this campground…

Best ever

Wow is all I can say about this well cared for and well maintained campground. My site was spacious for my 28 foot TT, and ample room for my van. sites are well spaced and carefully thought out.had no one even close to me and the trees gave great shade. I’ll be back to this campground again! And it was cheap for me with my lifetime senior pass.. $13.00 a night!

Older campground

Nice enough campground, but appears to be a bit dated. Has full hookup sites or just electric like my site. Both pull thrus and back ins. What I did like most was the site I was in is well separated from others. Located right in town, so of course there is road noise. But restaurants and bars within a block is nice. There’s a Cabellas a couple of blocks away. The bads are no dumpstation on site, older showers and pit toilets, and appears not enough help here to keep the grounds cut and trimmed.. but was still a nice stay with shopping and banking nearby.

Had a great stay

Stayed here for two separate 3 day stays.. nice quiet campground that was never busy. Was here the 2nd week of June and outside of the rain had a pleasant stay. Vault toilets were clean, and grounds well kept. Kelly the campground host was super. Sites are on the small side, but saw some pretty big rigs in there. One loop is reservable, the other first come/first served. Plenty to do in the area, of course Devils tower and the city of Sundance was very nice. Museum, grocery, bars, restaurants too. Lots of hiking nearby..

Great holiday retreat from the crowds

It’s a bit of a drive out here over some iffy gravel and dirt roads. Was worried about bringing my 25 foot Jayco out here as it’s a standard unit. Pulled it with a one ton Ford 2 wheel van.. some steep inclines in, but did just fine.. very peaceful and quiet. Have heard the sky watching is great, but so far have had clouds and storms. I have a spot on top of a hill facing the buttes. Love it.. cows in the distance and saw pronghorns on the way in. No facilities here, only have seen the one outhouse here by the parking lot to the trails. Long way to anything including gas, so fill up and bring your own water.. even thru the tornado warnings, I’ve enjoyed my stay. Bugs are minimal probably due to the ever present wind. My AT-T service was better than in Longmont at 3 bars. No problem there. 👍
