Easy family campground

Close to Freeport and not far from Portland, this is a good affordable camping option for visitors to the area. The park has just enough hiking trails to spend a morning or afternoon exploring. You can access the trails from the sites, no need to drive around the park once you're there. This is an ideal fall camping area with lots of beautiful red maples and yellow birch and beech leaves coloring the hillsides.

Lots to do at Letchworth

This place puts you in the middle of the "grand canyon of the east," and amazing state park with historical sites, miles of scenic hiking, and three waterfalls! The campground was quiet even in the middle of the summer and some sites have great views. Water and showers available. Definitely worth the detour. I would have stayed a second night if I could have to explore more of the trails.

Beautiful swimming and hiking!

Good-sized sites in hemlock forests, nice bathrooms, and the ability to hike through hilly woods and glens down to the two Green Lakes, which really are a bright teal color! Swimming, picnicking, paddling, and playground on site. A hidden gem.

Relax at the lake after hiking all day!

Amazing location at the foot of mountains right on Webb Lake. Sites are in the woods but the public beach and picnic area is expansive. Literally 5 minutes down the road to the turnout for Tumbledown and Little Jackson Mountains. Short drive to Weld and the rest of Mt. Blue State Park hiking and blueberry picking. Standard Maine state park with good bathrooms and showers, clean, safe sites, friendly, happy staff and lots of fun little trails. Can get noisy on the weekends in the summer.

Great jumping-off point for Rangeley area adventures

Safe, clean campground with a peaceful vibe. Plenty of friendly rangers and hosts on site for any assistance. Dry firewood for sale on site and plenty of kindling in the woods if the weather has been dry. Good hot showers. All sites are a short walk to the lakeshore and the campground is a short drive to dozens of beautiful and diverse hikes, waterfalls, local museums, fishing spots, and wildlife viewing.
