Watchman is one of my favorite campgrounds ever because Zion is so amazing. We really enjoyed attending the Ranger programs in the evening at the amphitheater. The Virgin River runs right behind the campground - nice for cooling off. Also, the Zion Canyon Brew Pub is right across the river - nice to have good food, craft beers, and live music easy walking distance just outside the Park entrance. Springdale is a great little town - Spotted Dog Cafe is fabulous, and Zion Canyon outfitters rent everything you need for canyoneering adventures.
This State Park is very well cared for and a pleasure to stay in. It has three campgrounds, with sites for tents and RV's, as well as eight camping cabins for rent. The lake has fishing, swimming, and is perfect for kayaks and SUP's … no gas powered motors allowed. The restrooms are nice and clean, with showers. There is also a dump station for RV's to use. There are several miles of walking paths - the wildlife and bird-watching is good. There is also a charming spring-fed natural stone hot tub!
