This is a great, and free, campground. Lots of sites, all are good.
Now a day use only site. The bathroom made it clear that late night partying happens here. We camped because we had just done 14 miles on the river and were exhausted. No one bothered us. Camp ozark is near by and was very loud, as was the bridge next to the camp.
We stopped at this site after several miles in the ouachita river. The nps map still has it listed as a campground, but there was a sign at the main entrance stating day use only. We camped anyways because we felt comfortable there was no flood risk, which is why it was closed. The view was nice, restrooms were nice, and there were even trashcans.
Went mid week and the campground was almost empty. The bathrooms were in much better shape than the previous stay, and I think it was due to how dull the campground was on that trip. Very peaceful. This is a great site for hammock camping and rv’s or campers because it is very steep ground, and the few tents I saw were no where near level. Would definitely stay here again.
The scenery at the overlook trail is amazing. Found a place to hang the hammock and had a relaxing time. Unfortunately it was walking stick mating season which added a strange element to the trip. Bathrooms were nice. The sites were very close together, too close for my liking.
This campground was located right on the water. There was a good amount of space between sites. It was fairly hilly so when we did walk down to the water, it was a climb to get back up. Would stay here again. The bathrooms were some of the worst I have ever been in.
