This campground was great. It had everything that I love in a campsite. Water, hiking and great views. I stayed a few nights, and spent plenty of time in the water, getting dirty while hiking and taking in the great views while laying in my hammock. One hike that I did was called Corral Creek hike, and it was absolutely beautiful! I also did Glacier Lake and Murice Trail. I definitely put in some miles but it was so worth it!! The campground was fine, nothing too fancy. Just your typical campground with basic amentities. You get a fire pit and a picnic table and that's pretty much about it. They do have restrooms, but again they aren't anything fancy. There is a lake, it's not huge but serves its purpose! There are other lakes nearby that you can go to as well but I can't remember the names of them. Bring bug spray and also be on alert for wildlife. On my hike I did see a mountain goat, but did hear some people talking about seeing a bear. Just be on the look out and know that you can see wildlife. Great place, would definitely come back!
This honestly was one of my favorite trips/camping experiences I have ever done! There really is nothing like it. The cabin is so cute, tucked away in a forest. It's pretty magically. The best part about this cabin is you can't reach it by car. You can take a 4 wheeler, ATV or you can hike 8 miles. My friends and I love hiking so we chose to hike the 8 miles to the cabin. I think this makes the experience that much better. We were able to take in the scenery as we hiked, and it made us appreciate staying in the cabin. The cabin contained all the basic necessities that you need, but obviously you have to bring your own food, sleeping bags and hygiene products. We also brought sleeping pads to put down on the beds provided. The restroom is outside (outhouse) and there is no water or electricity. We brought our own supply of water and brought lanterns, and a few other light sources. There is a fireplace in the cabin but they don't provide the wood. We were able to gather another wood and branches from outside to build us a fire. It comfortably sleeps 3, however we had 4 people and one person had to make their bed on the floor. There were great trails nearby, which I think most of them are used in the winter for snowmobiling. I would definitely recommend coming here, any time of the year!!
What a beautiful spot to camp. My friends and I came here as a celebration of our Sophomore year of college ending. It was the perfect time to come because the flowers were blooming, the weather was warming up, and it wasn't too busy. We brought a few kayaks, stand up paddle boards and our swim suits. We enjoyed early mornings on lake. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed 3 nights, and a few of those mornings we had the whole lake to ourselves…Or it felt like it, anyways! The views and scenery were indescribable. Mountains, trees, blooming colorful flowers, and the crystal clear lake were some of the amazing things I noticed while being on the lake. It definitely was just what I needed after finishing up an extremely hard semester and killer finales. The campground is located in the beautiful Lolo National Forest. My friends and I also did some hiking, and took in the views of the mountains all around us. There is just something about getting higher in elevation and seeing things from a birds eye view. We hiked the Stateline Trail, which seemed to be pretty popular when I researched hikes around the area before we went. From the research I did, apparently this trail separates Montana and Idaho- although once we got to the top, I wasn't sure at which direction or point that state line actually separated. From the top, we saw gorgeous views of Missoula Lake. When we were down by the lake (or on the lake kayaking), the lake seemed so big. But when we got to the top, the lake actually didn't seem so big. We also saw neighboring mountains (although we didn't know the names of them), and so many trees! It was a perfect clear day, which made the views that much better. The campground really wasn't anything THAT special. It was just a typical campground with all the basics. We made the most of it, and hung our hammocks, made a fire, and roasted marshmallows for smores. We had a blast, and I hope this can be one of our traditions after every school year ends!
I consider myself pretty lucky to go to college in a state where there is great outdoor activities. Bowman Lake Campground, which is located within the Glacier National Park is pretty awesome. Everywhere you look, there is something beautiful. The scenery within this campground is to die for. The storage on my camera was full by the time my friends and I left because I took pictures of everything. The trees, flowers and plants were my favorite. All my friends (and myself) have hammocks, so we always like staying in a campsite that has good trees to hang our hammocks. We were able to get a spot where there were trees really close to our campsite, so we were able to hang our hammocks while keeping warm by the fire. We also really enjoyed the lake. It was gorgeous. One of my friends has a kayak, so we took turns taking it out on the water. I got up one morning earlier than everyone else, and took the kayak on the water. The sunset was beautiful, and the lake was so calm and relaxing. One FYI to everyone….The road leading to the campground is pretty ruff, but it is manageable if you go slow. The road is pretty narrow, so just be careful of on coming cars coming down from the campground. Just go SLOW. I would also suggest to get to the campground early in the morning. They don't take reservations, and the campground isn't very big…limited spots. So if you want a good spot, or a spot at all, I would suggest getting there early in the morning. My friends and I also really loved hiking along the trails that were near the lake. There was actually a trail (not sure if it had a name?) that took us along the lake shore which was one of my favorite walks we did. I honestly can't wait to come back and stay here. I definitely will do more research on other hikes nearby because I know the views would be awesome the higher you get!!
Montana is absolutely gorgeous! I may be biased because I go to college in Montana, but there is so many great outdoor activities. The mountains and scenery are my favorite. Some college friends and I have done a lot of camping over the years together, and Glacier Campground was one of my favorites. The campground is awesome, and is a few exits down from the Glacier National Park. Trees surround you within the campground, which was great because my friends and I had hammocks so those were easy to hook up with all the trees! One thing we really enjoyed doing was we did some horse back riding! There is a place nearby where you can go and do this. We had a blast!! There are many lakes and rivers too that are great. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, and also rented some kayaks at a local shop a few miles away. The campground does offer spots for tents, RVs and they also have cabins. We chose to tent because we are poor college students :). Maybe at some point we would try renting a cabin because they looked pretty fun. We didn't reserve our spot ahead of time, but we were able to get a spot still. It was in the spring time, so I'm sure if it was in the summer months you might want to call and make a reservation. Each campsite does have a table and fire pit which came in handy for us. We only stayed for the weekend, but wish we could have stayed longer to do some hiking. Because Glacier National Park is right around the corner, I know they have great hikes. If you are into hiking, I would definitely research hikes in that area. I can't wait to come back!!
