Journey KOA

This KOA has mature trees and gravel rv pads. The sites are mostly level, but may need one block to be completely level. All the sites seem to fill up every night. (Mid-end of May). It’s down in a slight valley so the wind does not hit the campground as hard. The dog park is fairly small, but allows your furry friend to get off of their leash and stretch their legs. The bathrooms are decent- however one of the showers does not lock, and one of the toilet stalls does not either. Campground internet has been sufficient throughout our week. Would stay here again on our way to and from destinations.

Nice stop

The staff were very friendly and had hours until 9pm. This was refreshing as we got a late start to our trip and arrived in around 8pm. Most campgrounds this would be considered after hours. Maintenance and security were always around the park and friendly. The campground has 2 dog parks. They were both fairy clean! Thankfully we got a back in spot with grass since we did have our dog. Most of the park is just gravel. Just a 5 minute walk across the parking garage to get to the casino if you choose to go to the one that is linked up with it. Would stay here again

Sites extremely small

The sites are extremely close together, almost impossible to back into! The site we were assigned to looked to have previously been a pull through site, converted to two back ins. The other camper was backed in halfways into ours and we could not even attach our water hose due to this. Water and electric were on the opposite side as they were on our camper. Likely will not stay here again in the future as it was more of a hassle than anything on our way back home.

Over night stay

We only stayed here overnight- pulling in late and leaving fairly early. The grounds were kept up very well. It was conveniently located on our trip. We will definitely stay here again on our way north.

Nice for the week

Stayed here for the week while traveling through the area. They have laundry, showers, bathrooms, WiFi and sites have full hookups. Most people staying were only there for a night or two passing through. They allow dogs and do have a pet area with bags to pick up after your pet. The rv park is right off of a fairly busy street, but it did not seem to bother us during the evening.

First to Review
Lions- lot in town

If you are looking for a place to set up your camper, sewer, water, and electric- but are not looking for grass. This is the place for you. We were up in town for a hunting trip- so we stayed here for 1 night, then relocated to a different location that had a spot we could have grass for our dog. Although— cannot complain about this location at all for the price!

Caring owner, clean location

We called ahead because we knew we were going to be pulling into the campground really late as our trip didn’t get started as soon as we wanted. Rick gladly accommodated us, giving us directions and site numbers we would use, then just pay in the morning. The campground is clean, quiet, and friendly! All sites are leveled pull thru’s and hookups are conveniently located. If we are going through the area, we will definitely be back!

Cozy Camping

This campground is a small campground near the marina. The camping spots are fairly close together. The camp store is typically open until 5-6pm, with several items for sale if you’ve forgotten something. They have firewood for sale as well. Things to watch out for: poison ivy, ticks, and ants. All things you would have to watch out for in this area of the country.

Dusty with a side of poor management

If you don’t have a UTV, this is probably not the place for you to go. Dusty and loud.

We reserved a spot at this campground in advance of the weekend. We showed up at 6pm, an hour after the office closed. There was an “after hours checkin” location. I looked for a reservation with our name on it telling us which spot we should be going to. None of the slips had any names on them just a sticky note saying “one night only pay in the AM” since we had received 2 confirmation emails, I based our reservation off of the second confirmation stating we got full hookups - assuming they upgraded us from the electric/water because someone had cancelled. In the AM I went to go pay/check in since we were there from Thursday-Sunday. They acted like I was an idiot for not going to our assigned spot, even though we did not know where that was and demanded we moved. I asked them why I got a second email stating they were charging us for the full hook ups and they stated someone messed up and there’s nothing they could do about just go move to the correct location. I went and verified and at least they charged my credit card for the correct amount. Later that second day they called me and requested I come back to the office because they forgot to fully check us in and I needed to pay them. I ended up standing at their check in window for a long period of time before they came to assist me.

If you have to dump after your trip- or even during your trip— be warned it’s an additional $10 each time you want to dump.

The location is close to I-17 which has its pluses and minuses. Easy to find and get around, but truck noise throughout the night when you attempt to sleep.

The dog park is nice sized and has poop bags and garbages. The whole RV park has poop bags and garbages around it- which is awesome!

They do have propane fill on site, and typically a general store. The store was not open due to COVID-19.

The people staying at the campground were all friendly, which made the stay a little more enjoyable. Although there is not a lot of privacy within the different sites.
