Fine for a weekend

This are gets surprisingly nice as you drive away from I-5, but I still think of it as less of a destination and more of just a place to camp. I appreciate that the park has public kitchens and some good areas for sports/playing.

Scenic Beach

A nice forested, spacious campground. As a former RV camper I really appreciated the pull through sites and extra parking spots around the camp.

Moran

Moran has lots of options- campsites by the lake, in the forest, closer to the mountain. The sites by the water at midway are beautiful, but you did have to cross the main road to get to the bathrooms. We visited San Juan Island as well but Orcas was our favorite.

Nice spot near the city

This is a cute campground, especially if you don't want to be too far from the city. I was impressed by how spread apart the sites were, I think they could have fit another in between each of them!

Close to Rainier

This campground is close to sunrise and crystal mountain without being quite as busy as Silver Springs down the road. The campsites are good sized and really pretty. The facilities leave quite a bit to be desired, but it's good if you're okay with roughing it a bit!

Homer's woodsy alternative

A lot of people love camping on the spit, but if you're like us and decide that you want a little more privacy (and less wind!) this is a great spot. We had a really nice night here. The bathrooms were a little far away, which might have been annoying had we stayed longer.

Pros and Cons

I only stayed here for one night. We had planned to stay a second, but the wind was so bad that it blew over our tent and woke us up at night. It was definitely a gorgeous view, and if we had known what to expect it might not have been so bad!

Perfect views and location

This campground is perfectly located right between downtown Seward and Resurrection Bay. It is not very private or exceptionally quiet, but the price ($10 for tents!) and the views make up for it. We stayed here for 6 nights this month and it was great. The showers weren't the cleanest I've ever seen, but the water was hot and we never had to wait too long. It is first come-first serve and I know that it can be hard to find an RV spot depending on the time of the week, but we had several tent sites to choose from.
