Beautiful Campground Near Great Hikes

We spent 2 nights and used the Savage River Campground as a jumping off point to travel further into the park. We had a our best hikes from the campground. We enjoyed hiking along the river. We were lucky to have a grouse pair come into our campsite. We also took advantage of the ranger talk that was given in the evening. The bathrooms were clean.

Secluded and Convenient

This camp ground has the best of both worlds- secluded, wooded campsites while being close to a mercantile store and the visitor center. We stayed 2 nights and then came back for a third. Both times, we were able to get a site on the Caribou loop with the creek running behind the site. The sites in this part of the campground are more private and there is a trail that connects it to the visitor center. The bathroom was clean.

Beautiful campground with the best sunrises

We LOVED camping at Jumbo Rocks! We were in site 101 which was set back from the road a bit and gave more privacy than some sites. The campground is perfectly located near everything you’ll want to see in Joshua Tree. There are huge boulders all around that really make it feel like a cool place to be. Twice we saw foxes near our site and we were visited by lots of birds. There was a convenient fire ring, bbq grill and picnic table. We woke up to the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen!

The campground only lost 1 star because the bathrooms were yucky and there was no where flat to set up tent so we had to sleep at a slight incline.

Great First Camping Trip

I took my son here for his first camping trip and it was perfect!

Great for those who want to be alone

This is an olen camping area as it’s in a conversation area. There are no sites you just pick your spot. We had a great time exploring the outdoors- saw no other people and only heard nature and airplanes

Beautiful scenery

I used to take groups of campers here and it was one of their favorite-!typically a quiet campground

Can’t wait to come back!

This may be one of my favorite campsites!! Our campsite was very private and I appreciated the cart the park supplied to move our gear to the site. We had some skunk visitors overnight. There’s a great River to swim in, phenomenal ranger led programs, a great playground and nice trails. It makes for a great trip but book early because sites fill up.

Great campground on the NC side

We only stayed for 1 night but really enjoyed the campgrounds proximity to activities on the North Carolina side of the park. The bathrooms were nice and there is a little stream that runs by the park. From our site you could hear a busier road but I’m sure that’s not the case at other sites.

Great Family Camping

We had a great time at Cades Cove and liked the convenance of being able to grab firewood and ice at the campground store. There is a lot to do near the campgrounds as well- Visitors Center, Loop, Horseback Riding, hikes, and a small stream to explore. The bathrooms were clean an nice. We arrived on a weekend and there were neighbor children ready to play with ours which was nice. They lost a star only because the sites don’t really have any screening between them or allow for any privacy from the road or neighbors
