Trains, trains, trains. And a river

Boy oh boy. Where to begin. Trains. Literally every half hour a train goes right behind the campground, waking everybody up. If you're in a tent, that's not so great. Also theres a one way tunnel to get to the campground, and all these cars seem to thinks its really necessary to honk at least five times (just to be sure) before passing through. Even at 2am. Or 3am. Or worse, 4am. I will say, the river is great fun. Easy access, swimmable. Probably fishable. However, beware. The moment you get too far from the shore, a thunderstorm will start. Guaranteed. We almost died out there. Me and my tube had to paddle so hard when the wind changed the direction of the tide, pushing me further away from shore. Glad to be alive. Overall, good campground.

Edit 1: dont forget the trains tho. Bring those bose noise cancelling headphones. Bose only.

Best site in the national park

This site is by far the best site in the national park. I love the trail here. It's very secluded, and not many people come by. On top of that, it's marmot heaven. Be aware and prepared as bears do roam around here quite often. Bring a bear cannister for sure.

Beautiful ❤️

Absolutely breathtaking trail and campsites! There are 71 of em, but not all are the same. The one we were was GRRRREAT. It was off the trail a bit to the left, so no people coming by. Highly recommend. Be sure to bring bug spray. There may be bears, but the bug spray will help with nasty bites from those little buggers. 😉🐨

Beautiful lake with yummy salmon

We had some salmon at the restaurant right by the sites. The cesar salad 🥗 had a little too much dressing, and went down kinda slow 🦥 It made me a little gassy. But, nonetheless, it was delicious😋 The campsites were great, and the tree was big

BEST SITE EVA'

Would rate 10/5 if I could. Community garden is a free for all! Places to play with basketballs, volleyballs, and everything you can dream of from a campsite. GREAT selection of puzzles. I liked the cardinal ravensburger one. Yes, Im a puzzle fan 🧩 Easy access to the Olympics (hurricane ridge). Owned by GREAT people, who were so kind, that they offered us a fresh orange pepper. We also took a zucchini and a teeny tiny broccoli 🥦 So delicious 😋🤤 Our site was covered around by bushes from other sites, and veryyyyyyy private. Easy access to potable turlet 🚽🪠

Decent site, but the people...

The site itself was great. $40 for a nonelectric, no water site is not great but alright. The fire pits don't have grills at these sites though so be aware. The river right next to the site is really nice and pretty. About ankle deep and perfect. Bathrooms were very clean as well, though kind of far from these sites. However, the people staying at the campground, particularly those long-time campers are quite rude. One rv right by us was blasting music until 2am, and no staff were around to do anything about it. Also, beware of ticks.

Third visit, new site

This backcountry area truly is a hidden gem in the DC area. For those just learning to backpack or camp in dispersed or unmaintained areas, this is perfect. The hike in takes about 30-45 minutes from the parking lot that has a portable restroom. Site 2 is up on a hill, which we picked because it was going to downpour that night. Had we gone to site 3, we would have been flooded out. River is pretty close to filter water from. We saw one other person the entire memorial day weekend.

Good site for easy camping

My friends were first time campers, so I brought them here. It was perfect. Easily accessible bathrooms and showers, fire ring with a rack, and nice greenery. The plethora of activities made it simple to keep my friends entertained. You can rent kayaks, go mini golf, and there are a couple very easy hiking trails.

Little crowded, but nice campground

I'm one for more privacy when I'm camping, but we had some gear we wanted to test before going to the backcountry. This was nice for that. Right by the visitor center and easy access to old rag and whiteoak canyon trails.

Easy Reservation, Clean Cabins

The cabins were exactly what we needed. Cheap, easy to reserve, and ability to have a nice fire outside. Great park with beautiful falls!

Backcountry with Trail Access

This site is perfect for first time backcountry campers. A two mile trail leads to several campsites that are spaced widely apart. Easy access to rivers/water source. Sites 3 and 7 were my favorite.
