Large, private, dappled sunlight campground, surrounded by mature river birches and native Rhododendrons. Built in shelter, over the picnic table, and the campsite is directly on a rushing creaked. Their were other families camping, but the sites are so large and so filled with mature trees, that we never heard or saw them. Gorgeous bathhouse, with hot water, no bugs, little touches of niceties of rocking chairs and bath baskets. The lodge itself offers live music, community campfire, excellent bar and grill.
Very clean campground and bathrooms. Super friendly guests and park rangers. Gorgeous views of lake Champlain and the Green Mountains. Make sure to take a walk to the point to see where the Bay and Lake meet. On Loop 2, campsites are wide open so make sure to bring a screen shelter or pop up with panels if wanting privacy.
Great location if you are visiting FT. Benning. Not quite a “resort” yet, but maybe soon. They are under construction, but most spots were full. Felt more like tailgating than camping. Beautiful paved path leading to dog park, playground, golf course and river walk. Recommend screen shelter as there is no shade and it can get hot and buggy. Also, wear closed toe or muck boots as there are large stones and broken glass imbedded in all the sites. Clean port a potty. Do your shopping before hitting the site as the area right around it is very economically depressed. We had a great week long visit with our soldier before he moved on to his next assignment.
