Bad location

Very noisy with the roar of traffic on hwy 61 all night. ATVs coming and going at all hours. The city had the opportunity to build this site down by the lake and instead put it in a field next to the hwy. black beach is still a beautiful place to visit though

Just a nice quiet get away

Just a nice quiet campground and the sites are fairly private. Lots of hiking and close to the river for some kayaking etc.

Probably the best over all on the north shore

Probably the best state park on the north shore. Lots of hiking trails. Very well maintained and close to the lake. natural lake effect air-conditioning . One complaint is these prime state parks sites are very hard to get. The new 120 day reservation system sucks. While all these camp grounds were booked, camp ground full,  half of the sites were open and that was with nice weather.

Impossible to book

Nice but the new 120 day booking system has made it impossible to book a site. I was trying to book a site at 8:00 in the morning 120 days out, boom, slam , nothing available
