Super nice campground in a fascinating area. We were in a pull through spot (BB42) and the hook ups (water/electric) were great.
Watching sunset on the lake and seeing bison lounging on the beach was magical. Plenty of pronghorns prancing around and we also grabbed soft serve from the nearby concession stand.
The sites are well spaced and have been staggered so that the site across from you does not block your view. Love the forethought.
Only downside was the bugs. The camp host did send out a notice about the bugs before our arrival, but we did not anticipate the literal swarms of no-see-em's and mosquitoes.
Can't blame nature for naturing though :)
We were fortunate enough to score the last spot in the overflow sites across the street on a Friday afternoon. Our 16’ trailer squeaked into the spot- this would not be a good campground for larger rigs.
Our spot did not allow campfires but that was fine, as it was super windy. The canyon must be conducive to wind and it was howling for a good bit. I felt bad for folks in tents; we could hear their rain flys whipping about.
The sites are close to Arches NP and other solid hikes in the area. The vault toilets were clean and they had a dumpster for trash.
Bisti was magical and I’m so glad I got to experience before we move out of New Mexico. We got to do a bunch of exploring and then headed straight off the “trail” to make dinner in our camper.
We stayed here on a Thursday night and shared the parking lot with a handful of other campers. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked with TP.
We were not able to have a campfire but did witness a magical sunset. This area is such a gem!
there is no trash collection out here. Please pack it out!
Stayed here over Labor Day Weekend and it was quiet and clean.
We accidentally booked the double spot, but enjoyed having the extra space and being tucked away.
The vault toilets were super clean and had plenty of TP. The camp host was friendly as well.
The road up to the campground was a bit rough but we had no problems towing up our TT.
Great state park campground with electric and water hook ups. No water views from this campground. If you’re wanting to be closer to water/town, I would stay at Lions Beach.
During a summer weekend, this campground didn’t even get half full. Fine by us- saw many rabbits, quail, and hummingbirds. Super quiet at night, but the mosquitoes kept us inside.
Dump station on the way out of the park was a perk!
We stayed on site 24 with our small camper. We didn’t realize that site 24 basically shares a site with a FCFS site, but they were respectful neighbors.
The site was roomy and had a nice picnic table and shelter. My husband and I did notice a lot of road noise at night, as we tented and let our family sleep in the camper.
Pit toilets were “cleanest I’ve ever seen”, per my picky mother in law.
Great hiking trails from the campground and the ranger at the entrance of the park was super helpful. We’ll be back!
Stayed here for two nights over the 4th of July weekend. Able to find a spacious spot with a stellar view mid-day Saturday.
Road up to the spots is a bit windy but we were able to get our 17’ TT up no problem.
Area was quiet, except for some guy running his four wheeler at 11:30 PM one night. Guess he wanted to celebrate America’s birthday.
Would definitely stay again. Perfect spot between our home in NM and wanting to visit Pagosa Springs.
This KOA will start texting you in advance of your arrival, which I found a bit tedious, but it came in handy during our stay.
Check in was simple and informative. The pool is open and was clean. It definitely came in handy during this heat!
The campground is based about an hour away from Carlsbad Caverns, which worked for us so we could drop our rig and make the drive the next morning. Only about 20 minutes from the town of Carlsbad.
On our second night, there was a wicked storm and we started heading loud booms. The park was thoughtful enough to text everyone after hours to reassure us that the pecan fields up the road use air cannons to prevent hail. Not sure about the effectiveness but was so glad to know what was happening.
We would certainly return if we ever need full hook ups in the area.
Not bad for a night’s stay, especially if you’re not using their facilities. We had full hookups and spent most of the night in downtown Flagstaff, just needed somewhere to park the rig.
They did verify our friend’s dog’s rabies shots records, if that applies to you.
There are no fire rings or picnic tables, at least not at the sites we saw. The shade provided by the pines was nice and the road nearby wasn’t as loud as I thought it would be.
Overall, not great on amenities but good hookups and nice setting.
Had a great night here after doing some hiking in Bandelier. Sites and bathrooms were clean.
No hook ups and parking pads are not conducive to large rigs. We found site 8 worked very well for our 16’ trailer and truck. Fairly private site- It did help no one occupied the sites next to us.
Caught some deer around our site during lunchtime and coyotes were vocal at night. Would stay again!
This place is great for staying close to the baths and getting the full experience while also camping.
The sites are a bit tight for our liking but not many folks were camping this weekend (2/12/22). The bathhouse was nice and heated, which is a plus this time of year.
We also missed having a campfire and there didn’t seem to be a communal fire going on as referenced in other reviews.
Stayed overnight on 1/22/22 and had a great experience. The campground and vault toilets were super clean. The area is gorgeous and makes for breathtaking views from your site.
All the sites had fire pits and picnic tables. Spacing was great; couldn’t see our neighbors from our camper windows.
The creek that runs behind the campground is cathartic. Just down the road is Ponderosa Winery and Jemez Hot Springs is the other way. We’ll be back!
