Good campground.

Stayed here Nov 23-30, 2021.

This one is decent for what it is.  If you have younger children, and you are using more amenities available (some not available due to season), it's more worth the kinda pricey cost to stay here. The restrooms were decent, only accessible through the pool area inside.  We didn't use the pool. The store was pretty cool, plenty of items to choose from, along with some food items available.

We were in a pull through, full hookup site. We had to do a bit of leveling, so just know that leveling skills required for most of the sites here.  We didn't use the laundry facility but it seemed pretty nice.  The areas for dogs were great. They had 2 bigger areas for dog play, plenty of room and space to run/play!  Some cool hiking trails along the edge of the campground.  Something we found a little difficult was the placement of the firepits.  They are moveable; however, some people do not know this.  On the one side of us, they had it too close for comfort to the back of our camper, so we had to move it before the next people took the site. For safety.  We also had to move ours so that it wasn't too close to the folks or their camper on the other side.  So, I guess you could say these sites are a tad cramped.  Also, be aware that there are many sites with trees to be aware of when parking/setting up.  Dumpsters conveniently placed around the park.  Wifi was spotty when it was packed, it got a little better once people left.

Overall, it was a decent place with decent facilities to spend the holiday.

Okay.

Stayed here Nov 21-23, 2021.

Firstly, these sites are pretty tight.  They are level, but tight.  All gravel. Secondly, there's nothing for dogs.  They may advertise as pet friendly, but it's really just not.  There's an area designated for a pet walk, but it's just not a pet walk at all.  You have the option to pay an extra $20 for a site that includes a little area for your doggo, but it's about a 4x4 cage with fake grass.  Really only big enough for a toy chihuahua to comfortably use it for potty time.  The restrooms were clean and decent.  Wifi decent. Laundry facility decent. This place is pretty straight forward in how it's designed and what it has to offer.  If you don't have pets, then this place might be good for you. Overall, it was okay for 2 nights, but no more than that.

Pretty Good City Park

Stayed here Nov 17-20, 2021.

For a downtown, city park, this was a good park to stay for a few nights. The sites are built for 2, we were given both and it was plenty of room.  If you're only in one though, you won't be able to fit a second vehicle.  The *sights* were pretty cool being downtown.  Felt very safe and comfortable and it was cool to see the city right outside your door.  Although, there was also a lot of construction going on. The bathrooms are single bathrooms. They were kept nice and clean.  It was nice to have a secure, private area for restroom and shower. They had an area for dogs to roam a little and do their business, it was pretty decent! It runs along the riverbank, so don't get too close to the edge! :) The whole park was kept nice and clean.

Lots to do around the area of the campground if you want to venture out and see some things.  If you need to do grocery shopping, make sure you know what area you are in. I had a bad experience in one of the stores nearby to the park.

One downside to this place is how close the sites are to each other, in that you have noisy neighbors (like we did at 1am). Overall, a decent place to be for a few nights.  I personally wouldn't stay more than that, but I prefer more of a nature's view kind of place.

Decent, Quiet, Nice Views

Full Time Travelers

Stayed here Nov 15-17, 2021.

This place was decent with a beautiful charm.  They had all we needed, and ease of access to facilities was great! I will say, it was a tad confusing coming in even with a map.  It was dark when we were able to arrive, which might have made it somewhat harder to find our spot.  Our site was back in, and pretty tight. (most spots were tight)  Once we could see it clearly in the morning, it was evident how little room for error was actually there.  Used the pool, (kid insisted) it was clean and nice.  Slightly cold being November, but it was great otherwise. For the women's bathroom, it was the nicest bathroom I've seen at a campground.  The men's isn't as updated, but still nice.  Props for the nice facilities! Laundry included in that.  Wifi was pretty good.

One bugaboo was our neighbor's hookup situation.  They had their tank hose set up to drain down the side of the hill.  Their site and ours was not full hookup.  We notified management, and we were told they thought maybe the person was just flushing out new tanks with just water.  That it was the person's first, new camper.  The person had set up the camper and left it setting there with the hose hooked up as described above.  It was unsettling, regardless of the reason.  They also didn't seem overly concerned to check it out and remedy.

Overall, it was a good campground to be at for a couple nights.  Was glad to have 24 hour access to laundry and access to nice restrooms/showers.

Really Cool Place!

Stayed here Nov 10-15, 2021. I really love the aesthetics of this place. The trees and spanish moss add such a unique charm. The grounds are very well kept. The staff, friendly and helpful. The sites have plenty of room and easy to get into. Plenty of space also for the dogs. I walked my dog in the mornings, it was simple to navigate my walk and get back to my site. The restrooms were nice. They're similar to most state park restrooms. They were kept clean and stocked. The showers were also pretty decent. Our site was at the water and that was cool. My favorite sight was the herd of cranes flying over the water and hanging out.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the odor from the swampy-ish water that occurs after it's rained. Nothing anyone can do, but it's worth noting as it can be a strong odor at times. Overall, this has been one of our favorites and a place we would visit again! If you want to see things around the city, its very worth it to go to the equal justice museum and memorial. The new museum is located 1 mile from there. You can also see MLK Jr's house near the memorial. You can search it and find all the info. More than worth it!

Beautiful Spot!

Stayed here with some friends.

This is a gorgeous spot to camp! The river is right next to the campground and you can always hear it.  The sites are close together, just as a lot of KOA's are set up.  The bathrooms are in great shape, nice and updated.   This is an area where you want to make sure your trash and food are kept put away due to the bear population.

The staff is friendly, the grounds are well kept.  There's a little store up on the hill where you can get necessities and ice cream, along with other things! It is a very touristy area, so keep that in mind when booking a site here.

Camping at this spot gives you plenty of things to do.  Tubing/swimming/hiking/biking.  There are tons of hiking trails.  If you like to ride a bicycle, there's a trail that goes along the main road by the campground.   It's not complicated, but lots of hills.  The welcome center is a neat place to go take a look around.  They also have bluegrass festivals here throughout the year.  Easy access to Cade's Cove Loop and the state park.

Townsend is a very pretty and nice area with lots to offer!

Good Place To Stay A Couple Days

Full Time Travelers

Our stay here: November 7-10, 2021.

The staff, very friendly and helpful.

The grounds, well kept.

The facilities, what you'd expect of a KOA.

The sites, cramped and close together.

We mostly ran errands during this stay, so we didn't get to use too much of the facilities.

The staff were helpful, directed us to our site and even offered to help us unhook.

The front office/store was neat. Had plenty of souvenir items to purchase.

The laundry room was clean and tidy, open 24 hours which was very appreciated.

The bathrooms were nice, kept clean, and the showers were great.

There was plenty of room for our dogs to walk/potty.

Plenty for the kids to do-- arcade room, jump pad, and playgrounds.

There was a downside that we noticed the first night. It was an unpleasant odor that circulated in the air all around the area. I assume its due to the farmland and paper plant nearby. It presented itself mores so in the mornings than evenings.  Still yet, it was unpleasant.

The firepit on our site was awkwardly placed and made it impossible to have a fire while the canopy was out.

One cool feature -- there was a gazebo that had an outdoor stove and sink.

Some guests appear to be full time residents, however, people kept to themselves.

Overall, this is a good place to stay for a couple days. I don't know that I would stay any longer.

Very Nice Views

Full Time Travelers--dates here: October 31-Nov 7, 2021. COE Campground. The views are amazing-- the water, the trees, the ducks, cranes, and so many deer! The deer are everywhere and seem to be ok with people scattered about. Its pretty cool to see. The campsites are pretty spacious. Some are closer together in the rows along the water, but for the most part you get plenty of room with each site. None of the sites were too unlevel. The only full hookups are along the water. I've seen this mentioned and I want to touch on it. There were several sites that had been booked and no one staying at them. Sites that we would have taken if available. We were told by a couple that visits this camp often that it happens quite often that sites are booked and not used. The grounds are well kept. They mowed twice while we were there. I'm guessing they mowed both days as its the end of the season for the campground, but thats just an assumption. They mowed everything both days. The bathrooms are interesting, some are updated, some not. The showers in our bathhouse were operated with a button and shot water out hard for several seconds then shut off. I didn't take a shower in this bathhouse due to this. The showers in the bathhouse across from ours were a little better. Overall, the bathrooms were decent and kept clean. We started out in a large site, #34 --on a hill, but level. We ended our stay in site #24 which overlooks the water. Both sites were great!
The views of the mountains and water are splendid. The staff that we interacted with were pleasant and kind. Overall, our stay was very nice. I would definitely come back.

Nice Campground

Full Time Travelers here.

Stayed at Dale Hollow October 27-31/2021. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see too much of the park/area as it rained for most of our stay.

Great sites, back in.  The only issue I had with this camp was the way the sites were situated. They were in sets, like a cul-de-sac shape, and put you really close to your neighbors.  Aside from that, it was a nice setup in general.  Beautiful sights to see.

The grounds were kept pretty decent, however, I went through the areas close to our site and picked up a lot of trash from each section.  It was mostly candy wrappers.

They have a little store near the sites, very friendly staff.

We visited Dale Hollow Sweets, the fudge is fantastic!!!! We didn't get any of the other sweets they had, but it all looked incredibly delicious.  The staff there were friendly and courteous.  Overall, it was a decent stay for the few nights we were there.

Okay Campground

Full Time travelers.

Our stay here was October 20-27/2021 in site 22A.

We didn't know this before arriving, but the weekend we were there, it was one of their biggest weekends of the year with Halloween festivities.  We joined in with the pumpkin carving and costume contests. They also had a contest for decorations on campers.  All winners received an award sheet in a plastic frame.

This campground is fairly decent, with great views of the river/lake at some sites.  Only one section has full hookups, sites 1-9.

Our site was mostly level, however, a lot of the sites (excluding full hookup sites) were very unlevel.  The pull through sites are hills.  So, be prepared for that.

The grounds were okay.  Lots of trash from the weekend before us was still lying around.  The bathhouse closest to our site was decent.  One big issue I found with the restrooms was on the day most people left that weekend (on Sunday).  I went in to the restroom and the smell made me gag.  I had to leave and come back later to even use the facility.  The reason for the smell…the dump station is directly behind the bathhouse.  With everyone dumping at the same time, the odors flooded the restrooms.  It was horrid.

The firepits in our area were awkwardly situated, the one for our site was up on the hill under a tree and on the site beside us, the firepit was right next to our site under a tree.  A fire hazard being under trees and awkward for guests beside us to have to be all but on our site to use theirs.

The staff were friendly and kind.  Timothy is one of the staff that works around the grounds, he's a very hard worker and always polite anytime we interacted with him.  He was even very helpful to the other staff.  I want to recognize him for his hard work and dedication to his job.

Overall this was an okay stay, but I would steer away from this campground if you aren't particularly skilled at leveling your rig and you can't get one of the more level sites.  The most level sites are 1-23.

Average Campground

Full time travelers, our stay here was October 13-20/2021. Upon first glance, this place is pretty.  It seems clean and welcoming.  The owner, very nice.

We had a full hookup site.

One thing I will point out for others before they book--there's an option to choose a large green space site, so we paid the extra fee for that and it turns out, it's just a site that is situated across from a green space that is available for all guests to use.  The impression was that we'd have our own green space on our site, hence the reason for paying the extra fee.

There are full time guests living in the campground, and that's fine if they weren't so territorial and unduly curious.  We weren't able to set up our site or simply exist without constant gawking.  It was uncomfortable, to say the least.

The restrooms were private, each with its own shower which is nice.  However, we stayed for a week and the restrooms weren't cleaned the entire stay.  It seems as though some of the guests use the showers for their pets (dog hair all over the floor and in the showers) and do not clean up their mess.  I used each restroom (there is one handicap restroom that I didn't use) and all of them were equally unclean.

The sites are tight and cramped, although it was fairly easy to pull into the site for us as we have a smaller trailer.  The sites in the front are far more level than the ones in the back where the green space is located.

The laundry room was decent. A little pricey to pay for each wash/dry, but it was appreciated.  There's also a wash sink on the outside of the building that we used for doing dishes, also appreciated.

My biggest issue with this place was the water. We didn't notice this the first day, but I started seeing brownish water in our toilet.  As we used the water more, it became evident that whatever water is being pumped into their system isn't good.  Please see photo.  When we unhooked and sprayed out our filter, it was filled with filthy gunk. This should not be the case with a week's stay.

Overall, I would not recommend this campground for full time travelers such as ourselves.

Great Horse Camp!

Our stay here was 10/7-10/13/2021. This one was so special to us. We didn't have any horses but everyone treated us with welcoming vibes and kindness. The owners and family are attentive, kind, and hard working. The grounds are well kept. They worked non-stop our entire stay. The bathrooms were well attended to also. Cleaned regularly and well stocked. The showers were nice. They had an outdoor grill on a patio that was free for guests to use, and we used it to make some burgers, yum! The sites can be tricky for folks who aren't used to having a horse trailer. But, if you have the right skills, you got it! The mercantile was so cool, we made some purchases in there. Wifi is available with a password. A couple of ponds on the grounds, also some teepee sites,, wagons,, and cabins are available. If you have any kind of adoration for horses, this is a wonderful place to visit. Truly.
