Ranger Review: Men's Two Ocean Long Sleeve Shirt at Deep Lake - Yankee Springs Rec Area

Campground Review: Deep Lake offers quite a bit to do in a nice family atmosphere. Most sites offer complete shade. Just wish there was access to a site map while making reservations. Ours was site 22. Sadly had no trees that would work for our hammocks. Sites are setup somewhat close to each other but its not too terrible. Just hope your neighbors don't have a set of screaming kids like we did. To our amusement they didn't make it through the night and packed up. Don't expect any glamorous showers or bathhouses. There are pairs of outhouses and the smell comes with. Try to avoid setting up next to these if possible. The website listed that firewood was available at the ranger station but this is not the case. Had to drive to a general store about three miles up the road. Just a slight inconvenience. There is a boat launch adjacent to the campground. Would have been great to bring some kayaks. Overall a decent experience albeit being what one could expect.

Gear Review: As a winner of the June NC contest I received a hundred dollar gift card to Mountain Khakis. With this I purchased the Two Ocean Long Sleeve Shirt. Tech flannels have become a go to for me outdoors and for everyday wear. This one is a decent midweight offering a decent amount of warmth when needed. It has been much to hot for me to be wearing it during any daytime activities so I cannot touch on its sweatwicking capabilities. Was good to cozy up around the fire once it cooled down. Sizewise I am in that awkward stage between S and M I like to refer to as Smedium. Ended up going with a medium and it was a tad big for me. It is one hundred percent cotton so it did shrink in the wash but still fits a little large. Would def recommend ordering true to fit. The color is a big plus. The cowboy blue looks great in person. Will easily be one of my favorite shirts once I grow into it. You can check it out at: https://www.mountainkhakis.com/

Best of Carolinas

This is the best camping you will find on the east side of the Carolinas. Amenities are well maintained throughout the year. Has alot to offer wether you would like to camp on the beach or in the shade. This is the trailhead for the Neusiock trail. One of my favorites. Be certain to go for a day hike and have a swim after. Highly recommend!

Muskegon!

This is my go to campground in West Michigan. Just a walk from the beach. Miles of trails through the dunes and woods. A few lookout points scattered throughout. Sites have scattered trees and a decent amount of shade. Amenities are well maintained. A great offering in West Michigan.

Epic

This place is a must see. Awesome views weather the fog rolls in or not. There are mini horses that roam the area. Add a nice aesthetic to the experience. Had a blast exploring and bouldering. Has become my favorite place to camp in the states.

Fun in the sun

Camp Lejeune offers some nice cabins great for a weekend getaway. Typically only accessible to military. Will have to get a guest pass at the gate. Could prove troublesome depending on the time of day. Located directly on the beach. There are plenty of things to do for a first timer. Would not recommend for those familiar with the area already.

Pleasant surprise

Originally intended on staying at another campground but it ended up being closed. This was the closest alternative and what a pleasant surprise it was. Commodities are the cleanest I've seen. Full bath house with showers as well as a swimming pool. Nestled right along the beach. We stayed in the "rustic" tent sites. Decent amount of trees for shade. Plenty of stuff to do in the area. Highly recommend.

Great spot for fishing!

Went here with a group of buddies on a whim. Didn't have any expectations and ended up being thoroughly impressed. Campsites are well maintained and the rangers made sure to stop by and wish us a good stay. Offers some short trails to hike but nothing crazy. Awesome fishing spots throughout. Definitely worth a visit.

Sandy Beaches

Campground is located directly along the beach. Some would like this but I prefer some shade here and there. Sand doesn't provide the best place to hold a tent down in windy conditions. A decent offering in West Michigan.
