Beautiful sites on the River

This is a great campground. Sites are spaced out, 1 loop makes it easy to maneuver. Would recommend NOT using sites 3, 4, or 5 if you have an RV. All other sites are great! The entrance is a narrow road down a hill. But still very accessible for a travel trailer.

Keep in mind, Black Rock is 20 miles of dirt road. It does get bumpy in some spots. I was able to drive 15-20mph with a trailer most of the time.

No trash service, pack in pack out. Vault toilets, hand crank water pump. Recommend RVs fill up on water in Idaho City.

No cell service on T Mobile

Great Campground to visit YNP and Grand Teton

While the sites don’t have hookups, the facilities are great! Restroom and dish washing station in each loop. Central shower/laundry house. 2 showers included per night of stay.

Perfectly situated between Old Faithful and Colter Bay of Grand Teton.

I Loop has the best view of the lake. Keep in mind the sites can’t accommodate anything over 30’ for RVs. Many sites are pull through “banana”.

As of July 2023, there is construction between Grant Village and Old Faithful. This is causing delays of at least 30 min.

Beautiful Lake View and Access

Forest Service campground, no hookups, so be prepared. There is pressurized water (no hand pump). But it’s a 1 lane road, so if you are filling up a big tank, might block traffic.

Campground is split into two sides. The lake side has a boat ramp, but no beach area. Some sites can be reserved on recreation.gov.

Love their constellation / star gazing programs

While the dunes at Bruneau make for some fun sledding, my favorite part is the star gazing program offered by the park staff during the summer. A new telescope facility is being completed and will be open by June of 2023. We weren't able to use it, but we were able to look at smaller telescopes the staff had out. They also used lasers to point out constellations in the sky. When the weather is clear, the stars are just amazing!

For camping, I recommend the Broken Wheel loop. A lot of the sites have a shelter over the picnic table, and they are also spaced out more than the Eagle Cove loops. Most of the sites have water and 30 amp or 50 amp service. The park has its own dump stattion you can use on the way out.
