Convenience with some views!
This is a very intense 4x4 road (towards the end of the drive to the BLM area). You will need a short wheel base 4x4 vehicle with very high clearance. it's about 1/4 mile of huge dry river boulders that needs to be traversed. There is somewhat of a road through, but its not a joke. Barely made it with a 1998 Land Cruiser with 3" lift.
Can't beat the location. Sites are close together, can be loud. Facilities are ok. Can be very windy.
Camp anywhere along the road. It's dispersed and no facilities. The further from the highway you are, the safer you'll be.
Fantastic one way drive through amazing Aztec Sandstone cliffs and mountains. Excellent rock climbing and hiking.
Words cannot do this place justice. It's a bit off the main highway and mostly locals know about it. You can climb all over the hoodoos. There's even a disc golf course!
A little inconvenient, but you can't beat camping INSIDE Arches NP.
Fantastic with snow! Plan ahead!
Awesome sites amongst the rocks. Centrally location for a great base camp for day activities.
Great base camp for exploring the Valley. Sites are very close together with vague boundaries. This is not great camping, but you can't beat the location.
Bears are very active here. Make sure EVERYTHING is in the bear box.
Pretty dusty from offroaders sometimes but its pretty quiet at night with everything being spaced out a LOT. It's all dispersed camping so no bathrooms, trash, water, etc. Find a nice dirt patch and it's yours. Lots of great hidden spots.
Awesome base camp for valley activities. Sites are spaced out into natural outcroppings. Lots of wildlife.
BRING BIKES!
It can get COLD in the winter! All sites have a view of the lake. Showers were clean and warm! Everything was excellent. Typical of most Utah state parks.
Everything is along the one way road and is easily accessible. It's a great driving tour if that's all you want.
Climbing is world class!
Closest you can stay to Red Rock Canyon. The sites are small and close together. Tent pads are basically big wooden sandboxes that do not fit many tents above 6 people.
Wind is an issue here. There are no natural wind blocks. Noise can be bad (climbers from all over the world having the time of their lives), but overall you can't complain being able to drive 5 minutes to the front gate to RRC.
Facilities are all ok and average compared to other state/national campsites. Multiple camp hosts are by the end of the entrance road. There are some walk in sites, but those are commonly taken up by the foreign climbers that are a bit more adventurous.
Closest food is a small strip mall about 10 minutes West on the main road. Albertson's supermarket is nicely stocked and has a great craft beer selection. Subway sandwiches, a pizza place, and a gas station make up a perfect refuel spot.
Fantastically convenient and minimal approaches to most climbs. Extremely busy on fair weather weekends, it's almost impossible to find a site after 1pm Friday. PLEASE ONLY CAMP IN DESIGNATED SITES!! Much effort and government funds went into creating this Campground in 2003. There has been a lot of disrespectful off trail sites being made that is destroying the wilderness that has rebounded since 2003. Before that, it was the wild west. Dumped cars, gang activity , shootings and a murder. Things are serene and peaceful now. Major dry camping spot for rv travelers. Mid week is almost always near empty. NO TRASH RECEPTACLES. PACK IT IN. PACK IT OUT.
Barely maintained, but trash, pit toilets, picnic tables and fire pits are available. Sites are spread out and have amazing views.
