Alone in the woods

Super easy to get to, just take the last left available before getting into GC on Moqui Dr. and drive all the way down past the stables and you will see sites open up, plenty to choose from. The first little bit of the road is clearly marked no camping. Picked a nice little secluded spot not very far from where the sites begin, and it is very close to the entrance to the NP. No one else came around me while I was there, very peaceful and quiet even though you are fairly close to all the shops and main road just outside the NP. Went to sleep with dirt on the ground and woke up to 2” of snow on the ground which was quite “fun”, but did add another element of beauty and tranquility to the forest. Would definitely stay here again. I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of the site or the road getting there, but it really is very simple and there are plenty of spots. 10/11/21

Nestled in the trees

Camped here for a night after visiting Crater Lake, couldn’t be more happy with my decision. The parking lot is easy to find, head down the road on the right with the “end maintenance” sign as someone has pictured, and you will see spots pop up pretty quick. I pulled off to the first set of spots on the right and no one was around. Parked in the back by the creek which was awesome. Felt very secluded and “in the woods” even though the main road was not very far. Fire rings were abundant, and plenty of rocks around if you need to redo or build one. While I was there, no one came down the road or into the section I was in. Sites aren’t numbered as far as I know. Would definitely camp here again, very clean and calm and quiet. 10/6/21

Beautiful peaceful spot

Got here at around 5pm on a Saturday night and there were plenty of options which made me very happy. We ended up pulling off to the first spot on the right since there were more people farther to the left, and I like to be secluded a bit. Right next to the lake, had a picnic table and a large rock fire ring available. Was pretty windy but not as bad as I was expecting being so close to the lake. Very pretty sunset and crystal night sky. Saw plenty of satellites zipping around up there. Definitely a spot worth stopping for. 10/2/21

Enjoyable

Nice, clean campground. We got there early to make sure we would get a spot and there were plenty to choose from, but as the day went on they started to fill fairly quickly. There were no camp fires permitted but some campers had them, for the most part all the other campers were very respectful and quiet, there was a large group that was kinda loud but then again it’s a large group. For a free campground it’s perfect, tons of prairie dogs running around the tent to provide entertainment, easy hikes with rolling hill views and pretty sunsets are all around. Some bison nearby as well which was cool. Would definitely stay here again.
