Fair weather in the park but several inches of snow at the Ski resorts!! We hiked and enjoyed the rivers and lake. Unsettled weather that have to some big waves on Lake Superior. We came prepared for the weather and we enjoyed our time and snow.

Nice little park on a lake and easy hiking to some nice overlooks. Close to the city of Starbuck and Lake Minnewaska.

The main reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the Hwy noise. Very close to the highway and you know it. They did try to give every site a glimpse of the lake though. There is a hand full of sites that have great views. We also did not like how close together some sites are to each other. Which brings me to our last point. The W/S & E are scattered and placement. Our sewer connection was close to the next sites outdoor rug, they could have covered it if they wanted. The same goes for the other side of us. Thankfully there was no one there, when we were there. We had site 86 in the beginning of June. All in all, YES we would go back.

We spent a week at the end of June here!! Wonderful weather! On the needles highway and close to everything.

Amazing little gem located half an hour from White Sands. Recommend reservations if looking for electric sites. Plenty to do and see. Close drive into town for just about anything you could need but far enough to get the high desert. Clean bathrooms and showers. We only used electric site. Used the air conditioner for the hot mid days and heat in the early mornings. One evening we could hear what we think to be artillery explosions from the White Sands missile range by the Air Force Base. Nothing alarming if you have heard artillery before. Short lived and did not interrupt our experience.

We spent one night at this site. We were traveling through. First come, first spot. On our night, the coyotes were around camp after dark. And it was very dark outside! We had a pop-up and could hear and feel them going under our slide outs. The tenters that we saw in the morning were in their vehicles. Not sure if it was the coyotes or the freezing rain later in the night.
We plan to come back and spend a few days there to get some hiking in. Beautiful country!
