This is a tight and wet park. It is inside a gully that gets very little sun. I stayed the end of December through New Years. There is a beach in front. Shopping in Ft. Bragg is 15 minutes away. Not a bad place to hang out. But damp.
Lots of folks who live there full time mixed with snow birds or full timers/vacationers. Wind is a challenge. Very little vegetation to block wind. Lots of places for sale. Pools and spas are nice. Downside for me is they don’t open until 8AM in the morning. Since I work while traveling and because of COVID, Preference is start each day with early AM Soak in the mineral spring water.
30 minutes to Palm Springs is a bonus.
Nice overnight stay. More than a few full timers. Most likely high season spring-summer when the water runs.
This is a Thousand Trails resort. Resort, not so much. They have rolled in porta-bathrooms with showers. Road in is narrow and bad. Lots of weekenders who leave rigs there all week. Stayed 1 night on way south.
Nice place downtown Kernville. Looks like summer is all about rafting. Spent one night on way back from Death Valley. Will be back. Didn’t use bathrooms.
Road in is all washboard. Just before campground there is a dry creek where road could be a challenge for low clearance rigs. Pulled in around noon on a Saturday and there were plenty of sites. By Sunday every site was taken. Hiking trail was cool. Stayed 1 night. Cost is $6/night
Upper section is exposed to the frequent high winds. Lower section is blocked by trees and bushes which block you from your neighbors. Lower mineral pool is more adult friendly. Stay was during COVID. Used the pool in off hours. Palm Springs is 20 minutes south. Spent 2 weeks and will return.
