Great Campsite along the Smoky Mountain 1000 Overland route. You need a good off road capable vehicle to access this site but it is very peaceful with a nice stream running by. Tent camping near the jeep or a high clearance overland teardrop should make it back here ok but not recommended for regular RV's.
This is a great campground if you like to disconnect. To road in is a narrow gravel road so be prepared if you're not used to that. If you are used to that you'll love the ride. If you come in from the north around Big Creek and down the old Chattahoochee highway you're in for a real treat. Once you get to the campground turn off your phone it won't work there!!! That's great when you're camping!!!
Great amenities, Great sites, Great Park!! No complaints!!
The sites are just pull offs along the road. the road isn't heavily traveled so it's not too bad. The problem was the night that I stayed there it had been raining non stop for several day and the whole campsite. was several inches of mud. there wasn't any grassy areas to park near. All in all not a bad place in dry conditions. it was reported to be free with a permit but the permit was about $15
As I pulled in there was a kiosk with a sign that said $10 camping fee but no info on how or where to pay. I tried to look at the WVDNR website but couldn't find it there either, However no one came by. Other than that the site was level and grassy. Nice camp site.
Great camp site!! I pulled in while passing through the area, it was a short ride off the highway and the road in was nice. Quiet spot with a nice grassy level area. will definitely stay here again when I get back up this way.
Level and big sites, great, clean facilities with hot water. Great place to stay, very friendly and helpful camp hosts.
Very primitive campground but great for a night's stay while exploring the Pisgah National forest.
Frozen head Big cove campground is the best small campground that I have stayed in. The roads are narrow going in the campground d and the sites are small. This keeps out really large RV but is very nice for tent and overland rigs. Ive stayed here many times. Its always quiet. The restrooms are heated and immaculate. This is a great place to stay while off-roading around Windrock or the OHV trails around Morgan county.
Quiet and protected area beside Cooper creek. Easy to get in and out been with a small overland trailer.
