Beautiful state park off the beaten path

Stayed here for 3 nights in the Lodge Campground, site 82. Nice quiet campground. Site 82 was large but has a slight slope to it. Close to bathrooms and (free) showers. A little annoyed because several of the water spigots weren't turned on, including the one at my site. Bugs weren't too bad. Get up early and watch the sunrise over the lake. This park has 2 campgrounds, 2 boat landings, a beach, and hiking trails.

Love Wagon Trail

I have stayed in this campground twice now and have loved it both times. The campground staff is super friendly. Location is beautiful. Bathrooms are great and always clean. Mosquitoes can be annoying in the more secluded tent sites. Get up in the middle of the night, the stars are amazing here! I will keep coming back here.

Quiet, clean state park

Nice, clean campground. A few of the tent sites had lake views with even a few having short paths right to the waters edge. All sites are drive in with not much privacy in between, but it was enough for me. I stayed in site 9, but would probably choose site 14 for better views next time. Even though the dnr website says the office is open daily, the office at this campground is unmanned except for the weekend, and even then, limited hours. Bring change for firewood ($6). Not much for hiking paths. There is another section of the state park that's about 11 miles north. There is a beach and boat landing near the campground, although the lake was starting to look pretty scuzzy when I was there at the end of July.

Summer 2017

Site was fairly small. No real privacy between some of the sites. It had rained recently so everything was kind of wet and soggy, and never really dried out. Views from the beach are BEAUTIFUL. There was no good place to put in my own kayak which was disappointing. Only place to put in was down a steep flight of stairs, which wasn't happening on my own. Showers were available but you have to pay, which is always a little annoying. Lots of mosquitoes. Fall asleep to the sound of loons and frogs. Hiking trail connects to the state park which is nice.

Nice for a state park

Most sites are for car camping or RV's. Tent site was nice and clean and a good size. Could have set up 2 tents with no problem. Not a ton of privacy from other campers. Showers/bathrooms available. Lots of hiking trails. Camp store was never open when I checked. Swimming beach was available, but there were geese (and their poop) everywhere. This state park is nice because there are NO mosquitoes. But beware, there are bears.

Perfect for car camping in Door County

The customer service at this campground is impeccable. Bathrooms are always amazingly clean. Small camp store has all the basics. Playground for kids. Campsite was very clean. Tent sites have lots of mosquitoes, so be prepared. Cabins and yurts also available to rent. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
