Beautiful trails and beach

Ok so the trails and beach are beautiful. I wish we could have spent more time at both. I still owe my son a canoe trip which we unfortunately didn't realize until the weekend was over that it is only open for rentals on the weekends.

The campsites themselves from what I saw were nothing special. Typical crowded campground campsites. There was plenty of space but no privacy…not a complaint just the observation that would make a difference for me depending on what I was looking for.

There were both portapots and running water bathrooms. The only portapot I used was not disgusting but definitely could have been cleaner. The sheet said the last time it was serviced was a week ago…it looks like its done every 2 weeks to a month…it probably should be done at least once a week. The main bathrooms also were not disgusting but not super clean. It just felt like your typical busy bathroom that probably gets cleaned once a day but should be cleaned twice.

There is a family bathroom/shower that we loved but only had one shower stall in it…as a family shower two definitely would be more convenient. The showers in the main bathrooms were spacious for a campground and clean. You can't control the temperature and it never really regulates sometimes it's so hot I had to jump out sometimes its cold…but most of the shower its somewhere in between.

As a whole we really enjoyed our week at this campground and would definitely stay again

Nice for a couple days

This campground is busy but not overcrowded. Their tent sites for the most part are open but large enough to feel like you have some privacy and space. The campground is right on Lake Superior with an easy walk to the beach. Nice playground. The bathrooms are clean though definitely older. The handicap accessible bathroom is still up a slight incline. Also it is only a permanent outhouse-there are no lights, no sinks or even hand sanitizer in it so that was disappointing. Employees were nice-however when calling to make a reservation it went right to voicemail I left a message and never got a call back…we decided to just stop and see if they had vacancies and they did. Overall we would definitely stay there again.

Definitely caters to rvs

A couple weeks ago we spent some time at the Northwest koa…that one had private tent sites surrounded on 3 sides by trees, quiet spaces etc. Looking at the Southwest koa website they advertise as the tent sites back into the woods. So imagine our surprise when we were shown our site. It did indeed back up into the woods however the woods were 20ish feet behind a rope and we were told all set up had to be done in front of the rope. Our tent was inches from the road and wide out in the open. Other then the tent site itself this koa is wonderful…the staff were very friendly, the pool was clean and heated, the grounds were kept clean etc

Wonderful experience

The hosts at this campground were very nice. We had a tent site with no hook ups. The site was spacious and private-surrounded on 3 sides by trees. The bathrooms were clean. The pool area was clean and without issue. There were no extra walk ways or special features in those regards but the roads had enough of a country feel that they were fun for walking around with my kids and dog
