I’d give 5 stars but only 4 since the sites are nice but not much privacy. Facilities are clean. The sites are a short walk/drive down to the lake and it is beautiful there. I would hear loons in the early mornings and go down to watch the sunrise. It was packed when I was there but overall quiet and peaceful. Stayed here while hiking Mount Blue and Tumbledown. This is a great campground close to the lake and mountains. Would totally stay again.

I prefer more secluded/quiet campgrounds but this one seems like it would be great for families. Lots of activities and they have a lobster bake. The ocean overlook is beautiful in the morning sunrise.

…but remember that sound travels over water. This is truly a stunning little spot and it was so peaceful, until it wasn’t. I snagged the best spot right on the waters edge on a platform. The night I happened to stay here I had a very noisy group of young adults show up around 9pm and were up until 3 in the morning chatting and laughing. Showers were clean and the woman at the front was friendly and helpful.

This campground has beautiful tent sites along the waters edge. The sunsets and sunrises are stunning and the stars at night (some sites have more open sky but at every site you can walk to the tide line OR can walk to the open field) are breathtaking. Nice clean showers. Friendly and helpful staff. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because of how far away the campground is from Acadia and Bar Harbor attractions. While only 16 minutes away from Acadia itself, it takes about 45 min to get to the Cadillac summit from there as reference. However, before that deters you, the campground was super quiet and peaceful during the fall when I visited. Other campgrounds I have stayed at closer to Acadia have had very noisy campers. That peace and quiet is worth the extra time in my opinion.

…but if you are a person like me who prefers quiet camping, this campground may not be for you, at least during the busy summer months. When I stayed at the campground one summer, children were everywhere. It did finally get quiet near quiet hours tho. Sites and facilities were nice. GREAT location and close proximity to Acadia attractions. Nearby coin showers outside of the campground as well.

Camden Hills SP is a no contest campground if you are visiting Camden and surrounding MidCoast areas. 9 out of 10 times I visit Camden (one of my favorite places in Maine), I stay at this campground. You are not only a short drive into town with shops, beaches and restaurants but also have access to many trails right outside of your tent (or camper). Camden is where the “Mountains Meet the Sea” and the trails in CHSP offer some of the most beautiful views on the coast. I personally am a sucker for ocean views from mountaintops. The park staff are the best and very friendly and knowledgeable about the park and trails. The campsites themselves are fairly secluded with enough tree and brush in between you and your neighbors to feel separated. Bathrooms/showers were very clean. Every time I have stayed here it has always been very quiet and relaxing—a great place to recharge. You are also close to many great kayaking/paddleboarding areas such as Megunticook Lake and Camden Harbor (Curtis Island Lighthouse is a must). I give Camden Hills all the stars.
