Love this small, quiet, beautiful campground

This campground offers a quiet out of the way experience. There are only 15 sites, about half of which are electric and water. There are no modern restrooms or showers but there are several vaulted toilets that are cleaned quite frequently. Nestled below the dam this is a hidden gem. I camped here on Labor Day and the park was full. Prior recons of this park were only half full or less. This park sits on the Elk City Lake. It has modern (brand new) playgrounds, basketball courts, and even a sand volleyball court. The sites are spaced well apart from each other and I never heard much of my neighbors. You can only book this campground through recreation.gov. you wont be disappointed!

Well done Kansas. Well done indeed

Wonderful park. Great overall experience. I loved it. Plenty to do with a great playground for the kids, kids fishing pond, basketball and volleyball courts, and even an archery range. Fantastic hiking along the lake bluff will be sure to wear out your legs! All RV sites are water and electric and most are pull through. It's the most level site I have ever had. The only thing that was weird is that when you check in you have to pay an additional $5.00 per day for your vehicle. It was probably in the fine print when I booked the reservation. I went ahead and paid the extra $10 or $15 to just get the year state parks pass, as we plan to camp in KS more this fall. You may have out done yourself KS.

Less than impressed.

I am yet to leave a less than good review for a state park. We decided to come for new years and take a mini vacation. Due to the fact the state park is near a water treatment facility, we only made it two nights. The smell of sewer was awful. On top of that the park was unkempt, filthy, and littered with trash. There were many people camping in cars. We never felt safe. The camp host kept money from me that we had paid for reservations, I learned later. I do not recommend. We will not return. Sorry to Tennessee state parks as I hate to give a bad review.

Quiet camping on a large beautiful lake.

Loved our stay here. Very quiet and spread out state park with great accommodations. The restrooms are newer, clean, and well maintained. I will attach photos. Campsites are well shaded and not on top of each other. The hiking opportunities are plentiful. This is a boater and fisherman's paradise. The large lake offers beaches, swimming, kayaking, and of course fishing and skiing.

Wonderful park

Nnothing but great things to say about our stay at the state park. We went after the busy season ended (July 4). We took a kayak tour and saw great wildlife and beautiful scenery. Campsite was clean and we stayed in a section where most site were pull through. The only negative was the uneven surface but not a show stopper by any means. There is a camp store onsite that is well stocked. Great job missouri!

Excellent park, great lake, awesome time

Eexcellent park. Beautiful and scenic the campsites are clean and in great condition. Bathrooms were clean and even smelled good! Plenty to do with hiking, fishing, and boating a mere walk away. We have enjoyed every stay here.

Nice park brand new restrooms

We camp here several times a year. Beautiful park. Decent amenities, nice staff. Park has a pool open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Several different campgrounds offer a variety. Primarily a trout fisherman's paradise the park offers plenty for the family. Wonderful hiking trails, a restaurant, and the above mentioned pool keep everyone entertained. I originally reviewed this park as having terrible restrooms. However we pulled in this weekend to find out they are being completely restored.

Excellent park!

We stay here about seven or eight times per year. Easy to reserve sites. We always stay on the west loop. There are no bad sites. Our favorite sites are 15 and 39. Restrooms are immaculate and camp hosts are great! Walking distance to the Marina that includes a restaurant. Walking distance to the lake and a lake view with kayak access.

Four stars

We had a difficult time getting a reservation in 2017.,so we booked the site 6 months out for 2018. They turned on the water and sewer several days early to accommodate a full campground on the first available weekend of the year. Amenities are tremendous including wifi. Restrooms were clean and new. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Only complaint is the lack of mature trees.
