This campground is right by a slow moving river and very buggy. Campsite had bug nests everywhere we couldn't even stay the night. Three stars for spaciousness, clean restrooms. Spotted a little gator in the pond, that was neat!
This campground is beautiful and magical. We avoided the crowds by staying on the handicap flat across from the bathroom, which was perfect and convenient for our family since we had an infant in tow. The walk to the water was manageable and the spring is clean and refreshing and really beautiful. No riff raff. Very affordable and clean.
Camped here overnight, it rained which always sucks. Everything was wet and cold and sandy. We had visitors in the middle of the night, some wild ponies wanted to check out our cooler. Crabbing on the bay was successful but cooking them on the little tiny coal grill at the campsite proved more difficult than expected. It was more expensive to stay than I expected also. Camping on the beach, never again.
The sites are affordable, spacious, and they allow dogs. The campground is quiet at night and the stars are sensational. It's also super close to Cherry Springs if you want the full dark sky experience. The bathroom and showers were clean. Sink area outside for convenience, like a wash area, very handy. Little creek runs beside it for kids to play and explore. There's a beach with concessions stand and paddle boats on the lake with the prettiest skyline of surrounding the lake. Got an ATV? They have trails that run all over the place. Love this campground. Wish it was closer to home.
Lyman Run State Park is a better choice.
