I found this listing on here but no way to book it instantly so I contacted the host directly . Kelly is super easy to communicate with and answers right away . The grounds for camping are on her resort property a couple acres behind it in fact , so there’s no visible building from tent sites . We absolutely loved the coqui singing at night and waking to an amazing array of bird’s singing. Kelly’s son Alex gives you a full walkthrough of the different types of tress to pick from , and a tour of the hotel property . There’s amazing facilities here including hot water in the showers. I can’t wait to come back here for a visit when we have more time !
Visited in January while in the area . Park is doing amazing things to keep their visitors active and engaged. Was impressed with the gym and near brand new pool . Park is on a major traffic artery but didn’t seem too loud despite being so . Great spot to fish just steps away. Bathroom was amazingly clean . Mailbox area for residents easily accessible in front of bathhouse . Would recommend this park for certain!
We loved how close this was to Tampa yet it felt like you were miles away from it all . I can see how summer would be tough here as mentioned in other reviews.. wet would be my guess , so a winter visit is favorable. Tye hiking trails were amazing and we saw tons of wildlife. Gators on the trail next to the water. Night was filled with songs from the owls and calls from the coyote .. Make sure you cache all your food in bear proof containers because the raccoons are talented.. Bathroom is nice with great hot water .. good laundry machines too.. Only CON—- sites are too small and you’re right next to your neighborhoods.. very little privacy..
Friendly hosts .. decent tent area . Only giving it 4 stars based on size and lack of activities within the park . Thought the food caches in the tent area were a super nice amenity since we’re tent campers it can be difficult keeping wildlife out of our food storage .
This park is literally in the middle of a busy area . It lines up with a strip mall where there was endless noise all night long . Clearly a parking lot where the locals hang out and drink . I was nervous the whole night about the camp not being secured in such an area . Tent site are on dirt pads and we found them to be a good size , but too close to the city . Giving it this many start because checkin was smooth and staff was friendly. Also it’s too expensive for what you get . Probably won’t return.
I can’t say enough about the MacDill operation.. everything from checkin to checkout was perfect! The tent area is large and almost 100% shaded , The white sand beach is steps away and had the most amazing sunsets . I loved everything about our stay including the patriotism of every camper there .. so nice to be among so many heros enjoying their retirement and or vacations.. Everyone is friendly and you’ll feel welcomed the second you arrive . Make sure to visit the beach bar on Friday night for tons of fun !
My husband and I came down from MacDill AFB fam/camp on our 2 week rotation . Was terribly disappointed with the tent sites . They are on top of each other with zero shade . Our tipi has guylines that were so close to the neighbors site we couldn’t even walk around our own site . Park is filled with full timers trying to circumvent the new 2022 rotation policies, and are not friendly to newcomers …in my opinion.. very clicky and act like they own the place . If you’re a military campground visitor you’ll be shocked how this park just “runs a muk” . There’s no gate guard and anyone can just drive in . The tent site/ dry camp bathroom is large but floods easily . Not once did I shower where the floor didn’t have standing water . I used the other bathroom that’s about a half mile away from my area .. it was less populated and your allowed to do so .. though someone did say to my husband “ what are tent campers doing here “… I’m giving it a 3 because the MWR staff is nice and the price is awesome for the area otherwise it would be a firm 1 star from this camper . Tenters pay the same as dry RV and get half the room . We definitely won’t be coming back in our tipi .. maybe in our RV , but not in the tent area again .
