We stayed here for our annual Cub Scout camp out. We tent camped around a group site. It’s next to the Coronado Monument and the Rio Grande with an awesome view of the Sandia mountains.
We spent the day here hiking and picnicking. There is a fee for day use ($8) same price each night for camping. Vaulted toilets and bear proof trash cans. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. There is a group site that needs to be reserved. We plan on coming back to camp.
We like to come here during the week when is not as crowded. Try coming on a holiday weekend and Its no fun, way too many people. Be careful driving down to the shore to camp is very sandy and you can easily get stuck.
This has to be my favorite lake in NM. Bathrooms with showers, restaurant and convenient store, and gas station. We always rent a boat slip and go night fishing!
