This campground is pretty nice and is tucked back up a road. It was for the most part fairly quiet.
There is a store in Landusky we didn't visit, but we did check out the DY store as well as the store in Zortman. Keep in mind this area is pretty rural, so there's not much available when it comes to stores and whatnot.
The folks in both stores were quite accommodating and friendly.
I would definitely go back.
Lets start with the good. Smaller campground, with access to the creek. There are a few sites that actually sit "on" the creek which is cool. If you luck out with one of these spots they can be "secluded" which is nice.
During the day its not bad, but because of its proximity to 90 it tends to fill up with travelers in the evenings. It's not uncommon to be laying down and hearing folks pull in and setting up camp, only for them to be gone the next morning.
If you're heading to this area, there are a number of disbursed camping areas along fish creek road that are better.
As mentioned, this is a "walk in" campground. The campground itself has a road going around it and the sites are in the middle(can't recall if some might also be off to the other side of the road). With this said, there's not a whole lot of privacy.
Despite this, during the week its usually fairly tranquil. I've stayed a number of nights at this particular campground and usually Friday-Saturday its hopping so keep that in mind.
Easy to get to, and I'm pretty sure there's a trail down to the creek from one of the parking areas.
I would return, just make sure you're coming during the week if you enjoy privacy.
Although right off the road, there isn't much road noise due to not much traffic. You have access to the creek with most sites(look for the trail in the back of your site). Bugs can be an issue in season, so keep that in mind.
It looks like you could get an RV in here with no issue… but there are no hookups of any kind, no potable water, and no trash service so pack it out.
I prefer secluded/private places. I would definitely come back.
Our experience here has been great the one time we stayed. Yes, there is road noise because the road is close… there's also some access to the creek. Its a great place to pull off and stop for the evening. I personally prefer quieter camp areas, so I don't know that I would come back just to stay here… but if I were in the area and needed a place to sleep I wouldn't hesitate.
Usually visit in April. There are a TON of dispersed camping areas within a mile of this "campground" so if its full, it's not a big deal.
With that said, I've never run into any issues with folks using this campground but there's a first time for everything. Most of my time spent in this area has been dead quiet and usually quite private.
Privacy can be had if you take your time and find a good spot. However, be prepared to clean up behind the hooligans.
If people would just take care of stuff, this could be an awesome place.
