Way Off the Beaten Path

If you like to get away, this campground may be just what you’re looking for. There are only about 8 sites in the remote location, and they always seem to fill up fast! The location is a fantastic spot to see or hear elk, as well as a great place to fish the Pigeon River.

The road leading into this location is well worn and rutted. The twists and turns will make getting an RV in a fun experience, but you can do it. I’m always amazed at the size of some of the units that make it back there.

This is a secluded, out in the back woods, rustic campground!

Camping in the Wild at its best!

This is my absolute favorite place to camp, hike, kayak, fish, and just get away from it all. If you want seclusion, you can find it here with many remote campsites that are only accessible through the water or overland by hiking the trails in the park.

The park has 2 rustic cabins and 2 yurts for rent that are a fantastic getaway and a great place to take your spouse.

The wildlife include loons, eagles, bears, moose, deer and others. The lake has fantastic fishing for smallmouth, northern pike, crappie, walleye, and the occasional musky.

I CAN’T WAIT TO GO BACK!

Really Nice Lakeside Campground

This is a very nice, very well maintained USFS campground with options for everyone. I have to admit this isn’t my style of campground, I prefer a much more rustic camp, but this is a very nice campground if you have small children or just can’t live without some of the features that are offered. My wife and I both agreed that it would be a very nice place to bring our grandkids.

The lake here is huge and access is available in camp.

Great Eastern UP Trip Location

The campground is located in s a spot that allows you to tour the eastern UP making day trips to many of the best places to visit. Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Soo Locks, Drummond Island, Seney, and even Pictured Rocks are a short to moderate day trip from this site.

The campground is VERY well maintained, and the sites are very private. Sites on the north side are right on Lake Superior, and the views are fantastic! This was our first USFS campground, and we were VERY impressed. We will be back!

Our Goto Fish Camp

This has been out camp for fishing on the South Branch for 20 years now. The campground has far more sites than are ever used, so finding a site is almost always easy. The access to the river is fantastic, with multiple trails and access points easily accessible with a short walk.

The facilities are well maintained and spaced out well throughout the camp.

A recent clear cut has made the North side of camp a little less desirable than it was in the past, I wish the state would have left a bit of a buffer to keep the woods near the campsites.

Great Getaway in Elk Country

The campground is right on a small but very pretty lake in the middle of Michigan’s elk country. Many of the sites offer a good deal of privacy and the bathrooms are placed well throughout the campground.

As others have said, it’s hard to beat $15 a night at a campground as nice and well located as this. We will be back!

Good Pit Stop

This is a nice clean campground if you’re looking for a quick overnight on your way to a better destination. The sites are wide open with no privacy.
